On 22nd May 2026, the 3rd Drug Standardization Sub-Committee Meeting was held at CCRUM Headquarters under the Chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Rajendran Annaimuthu.
Distinguished members including Prof Aftab Ahmad, Ex- Professor, Department of llmul Saidla, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, Dr. Shariq Shamsi, Associate Professor, Department of Ilmul Saidla, NIUM, Bangalore, Dr. Mohd Mujeeb, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacognosy & Phltochemistry, Jamia Hamdard, Dr. Santosh Joshi, Head-R&D/QC/QA, Hamdard Laboratories India, Ghaziabad have joined physically and Dr. A Jayanthi, Principle Scientific Officer (Pharmacognosy), PCIM&H, Ghaziabad joined virtually.
At the outset, Dr. N. Zaheer Ahmed, Director General, CCRUM, welcomes the Chairman and members of the DSR Sub-committee and appraised the committee about the one-year activities and achievements of the Council.
The meeting reviewed the Action Taken Report (ATR) on status of allotted compound formulations and single drugs, ratification of new allotment, new proposals and proposal for revision of User charges of parameters of DTL pattern. The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Veerender Sinngh, RO(Chem.).

In continuation of the series of Research sub-committee meetings organized by the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), the 3nd Research sub-committee meeting of Survey and Cultivation of Medicinal Plants Programme (SCMP) was held at the CCRUM Headquarters in hybrid mode on 1st June , 2026
The meeting was chaired by Dr. A. Ameer Jahan, Chairman, A J Subaitha Medical Centre, Chennai & Advisory Committee Chairman, Tamil Nadu Medicinal Herbal Cultivator Association M/o Industries & Commerce, Govt. of Tamil Nadu.
The meeting was attended by distinguished expert committee members Prof. Tajuddin, Retd. Professor, Dept. of Saidla, A.K.T.C, AMU, Aligarh, Prof. Mohd Mujeeb, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, Dr. V.K Singh, Ex Assistant Director (Botany), CCRUM, New Delhi, Dr. Shahidul Khair, Ex Research Officer (Botany), CCRUM, New Delhi. Experts gave valuable inputs on the future roadmap for SCMP.
The meeting also witnessed the participation of Dr. Ghazala Javed, Director In-charge, NRIUMSD, Hyderabad and Dr. R. Murgeswaran, Assistant Director (Botany) In-charge, RRIUM, Silchar.
Dr. Rampratap Meena, Assistant Director (Chemistry), welcomed the chairman and committee members to the gathering.
Dr. N. Zaheer Ahmed, Director General, CCRUM, delivered the introductory remarks. In his introductory address, he highlighted the Council's key activities, recent initiatives, and the objectives of the SCMP.
Dr. Usha Devi, Research Officer (Botany) presented the ongoing activities of SCMP and future proposals for 2026-27 before the committee which was followed by detailed discussions.
The session was attended virtually by technical officers of the Survey and Cultivation of Medicinal Plants Units from RRIUM Srinagar, Chennai, Aligarh, Bhadrak, and NRIUMSD, Hyderabad. The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Veerender Sharma, Research Officer (Chemistry).

Ms. Monalisa Dash, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, visited the Headquarters of the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine, New Delhi, in the forenoon of 21 May 2026. She was accompanied by Dr. Mukhtar Qasmi, Adviser (Unani), Ministry of Ayush.
The dignitaries were warmly welcomed by Dr. N. Zaheer Ahmad, Director General, CCRUM, along with senior officers of the Council. During the visit, Ms. Dash held an interactive session with the officers of the Council and encouraged an open and constructive exchange of ideas regarding institutional growth, professional development, and strengthening the functioning of the organization.
The officers shared valuable suggestions and perspectives relating to career progression, professional opportunities, institutional strengthening, and the need for expanding the Council’s presence in different parts of the country to further enhance outreach and research activities. Discussions were also held on measures to create a more enabling and motivating work environment for the scientific and administrative workforce of the Council.
Ms. Dash attentively noted the suggestions and appreciated the dedication and commitment of the officers towards advancing research and healthcare services in Unani medicine. The interaction reflected the Ministry’s continued commitment towards participatory governance, institutional strengthening, and the promotion of Ayush systems through dialogue, collaboration, and progressive policy support.

Today, on 20th May 2026, The 3rd Fundamental Research Sub-Committee Meeting was held at CCRUM Headquarters under the Chairmanship of Padmashri Dr. Kumarswamy Thangaraj.
Distinguished members including Prof. KMY Amin, Prof. Syed Ziaur Rahman, Prof. Ashhar Qadeer, Dr. B. Vijaylakshmi, and Dr. Aloka Nanda participated in the meeting, while Dr. Ghazala Javed, Director (I/c), NRIUMSD, Hyd. and her team joined virtually.
At the outset, Dr. N. Zaheer Ahmed, Director General, CCRUM, felicitated Dr. Kumarswamy Thangaraj on being conferred the Padma Shri Award 2026 for his pioneering contributions to human genetics research.
The meeting reviewed the Action Taken Report (ATR), ongoing research projects, new proposals, and the future roadmap for strengthening evidence-based fundamental research in Unani medicine. The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Ghazala Javed.
