*** Cyber Safety Awareness Drive by Siliguri Police Commissionerate ***

Different Police Stations under the Siliguri Police Commissionerate conducted Cyber Safety Awareness Programmes across various educational institutions to educate students on the safe and responsible use of the digital world. During the interactive sessions, students were sensitised to common cyber threats, online fraud, cyberbullying, digital privacy, and safe social media practices. They were encouraged to become Cyber Warriors who will not only safeguard themselves but also educate and guide their family members, especially those with limited awareness of cyber safety, helping them stay protected from online fraud and cybercrime. As the future pillars of our society, these students have a vital role to play in spreading cyber awareness and fostering a safer digital community.

*** সিলিগুড়ি পুলিশ কমিশনারেটের সাইবার নিরাপত্তা সচেতনতা অভিযান ***

শিলিগুড়ি পুলিশ কমিশনারেটের অন্তর্গত বিভিন্ন থানার উদ্যোগে একাধিক শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানে সাইবার নিরাপত্তা সচেতনতা কর্মসূচি অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। এই কর্মসূচির মাধ্যমে শিক্ষার্থীদের ডিজিটাল জগৎ নিরাপদ ও দায়িত্বশীলভাবে ব্যবহারের বিষয়ে সচেতন করা হয়।
আলোচনামূলক এই সেশনে শিক্ষার্থীদের সাইবার জগতের বিভিন্ন ঝুঁকি, অনলাইন প্রতারণা, সাইবার বুলিং, ডিজিটাল গোপনীয়তা রক্ষা এবং নিরাপদে সামাজিক যোগাযোগমাধ্যম ব্যবহারের বিষয়ে বিস্তারিত ধারণা দেওয়া হয়।
শিক্ষার্থীদের ‘সাইবার ওয়ারিয়র’ হিসেবে গড়ে তোলার আহ্বান জানানো হয়, যাতে তারা শুধু নিজেরাই সাইবার নিরাপত্তা সম্পর্কে সচেতন না থেকে তাঁদের পরিবারের সদস্যদের, বিশেষ করে যাঁদের সাইবার নিরাপত্তা সম্পর্কে সচেতনতা কম, তাঁদেরও অনলাইন প্রতারণা ও সাইবার অপরাধ থেকে সুরক্ষিত থাকতে সহায়তা করতে পারে।
সমাজের ভবিষ্যৎ স্তম্ভ হিসেবে এই শিক্ষার্থীদের সাইবার সচেতনতা ছড়িয়ে দিয়ে একটি নিরাপদ ডিজিটাল সমাজ গড়ে তোলার ক্ষেত্রে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রয়েছে।

*** Three Persons Arrested with Brown Sugar by Siliguri Police ***

Acting on credible source information, a police team from Khalpara TOP-II under Siliguri Police Station, Siliguri Police Commissionerate, conducted a raid at Burdwan Road under the jurisdiction of Siliguri Police Station on the evening of 05.08.2026. During the operation, three persons, namely (i) Sahjamal (29 years), (ii) Arshad (18 years), both residents of Baghmara, Thakurganj, Kishanganj, Bihar, and (iii) Anjum Kausar (33 years), a resident of Coila Depot, Ward No. 7, Siliguri, were apprehended. During the search, 259 grams of brown sugar was recovered from their exclusive possession and seized in accordance with law.

A case has been registered at Siliguri Police Station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. All legal formalities were carried out in strict compliance with the provisions of the Act. Further investigation is in progress.

*** শিলিগুড়ি পুলিশের হাতে ব্রাউন সুগার সহ তিনজন গ্রেপ্তার ***

নির্ভরযোগ্য সূত্রের তথ্যের ভিত্তিতে, শিলিগুড়ি পুলিশ কমিশনারেটের অধীনস্থ শিলিগুড়ি থানার খালপাড়া TOP-2 এর একটি পুলিশ দল ০৫.০৮.২০২৬ তারিখ সন্ধ্যায় বর্ধমান রোডে একটি অভিযান চালায়। এই অভিযান চলাকালে, তিনজনকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়, যথা (i) সাহজামল (২৯ বছর) ও (ii) আরশাদ (১৮ বছর), উভয়েই বিহারের কিষাণগঞ্জ জেলার ঠাকুরগঞ্জের বাঘমারার বাসিন্দা, এবং (iii) অঞ্জুম কাউসার (৩৩ বছর), শিলিগুড়ির ৭ নং ওয়ার্ডের কোইলা ডিপোর বাসিন্দা। তল্লাশির সময় তাদের কাছ থেকে ২৫৯ গ্রাম ব্রাউন সুগার উদ্ধার করা হয় এবং আইন অনুযায়ী তা বাজেয়াপ্ত করা হয়।

নারকোটিক ড্রাগস অ্যান্ড সাইকোট্রপিক সাবস্ট্যান্সেস (এনডিপিএস) আইনের অধীনে শিলিগুড়ি থানায় একটি মামলা দায়ের করা হয়েছে। আইনের বিধানাবলী কঠোরভাবে মেনে সমস্ত আইনি কার্যকলাপ সম্পন্ন করা হয়েছে। আরও তদন্ত চলছে।

*** Day 3 of Road Safety Week 2026 ***

As part of Road Safety Week 2026, the Siliguri Police Commissionerate organised a series of awareness programmes across various Traffic Guard areas, reinforcing the message that road safety is everyone's responsibility. The programme was inaugurated by Quazi Samsuddin Ahamed, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Siliguri Police Commissionerate. A Sit-and-Draw Competition was organised at Bihar More under the Bagdogra Traffic Guard, with the participation of around 50 school students, to promote road safety awareness among young minds. Certificates, medals, and sweet packets were distributed to the participants. Awareness campaigns were also conducted at Panitanki More, Checkpost Tri-Junction, Bypass More, S.F. Road, and Phuleshwari Bazar. Students, commuters, and drivers were engaged during these drives. The programmes highlighted the importance of wearing helmets and seat belts, and the dangers of drunk driving, over-speeding, dangerous overtaking, and traffic signal violations. As part of the Gandhigiri initiative, roses, chocolates, water bottles, and ISI-marked helmets were distributed to encourage responsible road behaviour.

The Siliguri Police Commissionerate remains committed to creating safer roads through awareness, education, and community participation.

সড়ক নিরাপত্তা সপ্তাহ ২০২৬-এর অংশ হিসেবে, শিলিগুড়ি পুলিশ কমিশনারেট বিভিন্ন ট্র্যাফিক গার্ড এলাকায় একাধিক সচেতনতামূলক কর্মসূচির আয়োজন করা হয়, যেখানে এই বার্তাটি পুনর্ব্যক্ত করা হয় যে সড়ক নিরাপত্তা সকলের দায়িত্ব। শিলিগুড়ি পুলিশ কমিশনারেটের ডেপুটি কমিশনার অফ পুলিশ (ট্র্যাফিক) আইপিএস কাজী শামসুদ্দিন আহমেদ এই কর্মসূচির উদ্বোধন করেন। তরুণদের মনে সড়ক নিরাপত্তা সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধির লক্ষ্যে বাগডোগরা ট্র্যাফিক গার্ডের অধীনে বিহার মোড়ে প্রায় ৫০ জন স্কুল ছাত্রছাত্রীর অংশগ্রহণে একটি ‘সিট-অ্যান্ড-ড্র’ প্রতিযোগিতার আয়োজন করা হয়। অংশগ্রহণকারীদের মধ্যে সার্টিফিকেট, পদক এবং মিষ্টির প্যাকেট বিতরণ করা হয়। পানিট্যাঙ্কি মোড়, চেকপোস্ট ত্রি-জংশন, বাইপাস মোড়, এস.এফ. রোড এবং ফুলেশ্বরী বাজারেও সচেতনতামূলক প্রচার অভিযান চালানো হয়। এই অভিযানগুলিতে ছাত্রছাত্রী, নিত্যযাত্রী এবং চালকদের সম্পৃক্ত করা হয়। কর্মসূচিগুলিতে হেলমেট ও সিট বেল্ট পরার গুরুত্ব এবং মদ্যপ অবস্থায় গাড়ি চালানো, অতিরিক্ত গতিতে গাড়ি চালানো, বিপজ্জনকভাবে ওভারটেক করা ও ট্রাফিক সিগন্যাল লঙ্ঘনের বিপদ তুলে ধরা হয়। গান্ধিগিরি উদ্যোগের অংশ হিসেবে, রাস্তায় দায়িত্বশীল আচরণকে উৎসাহিত করার জন্য গোলাপ, চকলেট, জলের বোতল এবং আইএসআই-চিহ্নিত হেলমেট বিতরণ করা হয়।

শিলিগুড়ি পুলিশ কমিশনারেট সচেতনতা, শিক্ষা এবং গণ অংশগ্রহণের মাধ্যমে নিরাপদ সড়ক তৈরিতে প্রতিশ্রুতিবদ্ধ।

As part of its ongoing commitment to women's safety and community policing, Siliguri Police conducted an awareness program among the women of Mahakal Pally and at Titiakapara under Siliguri Police Station. During the interaction, police personnel encouraged women to remain aware of their rights, report any form of harassment or crime without hesitation, and seek timely assistance whenever required. The contact numbers of the Police Station and Outpost, and the Women Help Desk were shared to ensure easy access to police support and emergency assistance.

Siliguri Police remains committed to building a safer, more confident, and empowered community through regular awareness initiatives and stronger police-public partnership.
