Launching ceremony of UNODC program in Jordan financed by the Republic of Cyprus:

On 9th June 2026, the Ambassador, accompanied by the Consul, attended the launching ceremony of the program "Supporting the Development of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Programs in Correctional and Rehabilitation Centers in Compliance with Relevant International Standards", which the UNODC will implement in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate (PSD) of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The said program is being fully financed by the Republic of Cyprus. The Ambassador along with the Directors of PSD and of the UNODC Jordan Program Office addressed the event. Representatives of the Embassies of France and Germany, as well as of ICRC, UNDSS, ICMPD, GIZ and of other organisations and agencies attended the ceremony.

On 5th June 2026 the Ambassador attended the "Larnaka Region Tourism Symposium" organised by the Larnaca Tourism Board. Also taking part were the Deputy Minister of Tourism of Cyprus, the Mayor of Larnaka, the Director of Larnaka 2030 - European Capital of Culture and other high ranking officials, as well as a large number of businessmen and investors. Within the framework of the Symposium, Dr. Rajay Khoury from Jordan, President of Solaar Global Ventures, was presented with an award for his significant investments in Larnaka's tourist sector in recent years. In his address, the Ambassador referred to the excellent relations between Cyprus and Jordan, to the special affinity and love of the Jordanian people towards Cyprus, as well as to the positive trend as regards the level of investment by Jordanian businessmen in the economy of Cyprus. He moreover stressed the potential that exists for the further enhancement of bilateral ties and cooperation in several areas, to the benefit of both countries.

Within the framework of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union, a concert was held on 22 May 2026 at the Al Hussein Cultural Centre in Amman by the cypriot ensemble "Chamber Fusion", entitled "Cypriot Music Revisited - Weavings".

The ensemble played a number of traditional pieces, through its own interpretation. The concert was attended by a large number of Ambassadors and diplomats, representatives of various UN agencies and of local organisations, as well as the general public.

The Embassy wishes to extend its sincere gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the event, which showcased Cyprus' unique culture to the audience.

Financial assistance to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese

On 12 May 2026, the Ambassador, Mr. Sevag Avedissian, had a meeting at the Greek Orthodox Diocese with His Eminence Archbishop Christophoros of Kyriakoupolis, the Patriarchal Commissioner of Amman.

During the meeting, the Ambassador announced the provision of financial assistance by the Government of the Republic of Cyprus for the purchase of specialised medical equipment for the clinic administered by the Archdiocese in Amman.

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT – CLERK

The Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Amman is accepting applications for a vacant position of a clerk with emphasis on secretarial duties and with local staff terms, for full-time employment and on the basis of a one-year contract with the possibility of renewal.
Details for the said position are given below:
• Required qualifications
- Diploma from a recognized secondary school. A university diploma or an equivalent title will be considered an advantage.
- Very good knowledge of the English and Arabic languages. Knowledge of the Greek language will be considered an advantage.
- Previous experience in working at an Embassy will be considered an advantage.
- Very good knowledge of computers including MS Office (Word, Excel, MS - Outlook).
- Integrity of character, responsibility, organizational and administrative skills, sense of confidentiality and discretion.
• Job description
- Acting as personal assistant and secretary to the Ambassador.
- Providing secretarial support, including managing correspondence and schedule.
- Organising meetings and travel arrangements.
- Performing general office duties.
- Assisting with or undertaking the ex*****on of various tasks, within or outside of the office, relevant with the responsibilities and activities of the Embassy.
- Cooperating with the other officers / members of the Embassy, under the instructions of the Head of Mission.
- Executing any other relevant tasks that may be assigned by the Head of Mission.
• Gross salary - 1.027 Jordanian Dinars monthly.

2. Copy of academic certificates and of other relevant qualifications.
3. Copy of Cypriot of foreign passport or of respective identity card.

5. One photo (jpeg format).
6. Name of two persons from whom recommendations could be asked.
It is noted that certificates of the academic and other qualifications must also be submitted in hard copy (certified copies) during the interview. Late submission of an application or submission of an application without all the aforementioned accompanying documents will not be taken into consideration.

Η Πρεσβεία της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας στο Αμμάν δέχεται αιτήσεις για την πρόσληψη ατόμου στη θέση γραφέα με έμφαση σε καθήκοντα ιδιαιτέρας γραμματέως Πρέσβη και με όρους επιτόπιου προσωπικού, για πλήρη απασχόληση και στη βάση συμβολαίου για περίοδο ενός έτους με δυνατότητα ανανέωσης.
Λεπτομέρειες για την εν λόγω θέση παρατίθενται κάτωθι:
• Απαιτούμενα προσόντα
- Απολυτήριο αναγνωρισμένης δευτεροβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης. Πανεπιστημιακό δίπλωμα ή ισότιμος τίτλος θα θεωρηθεί πλεονέκτημα.
- Πολύ καλή γνώση της Αγγλικής και Αραβικής γλώσσας. Γνώση της Ελληνικής γλώσσας θα θεωρηθεί πλεονέκτημα.
- Προηγούμενη πείρα ως προσωπικό πλήρους ή μερικής απασχόλησης ή εποχικό προσωπικό σε Πρεσβεία θα θεωρηθεί πλεονέκτημα.
- Πολύ καλές γνώσεις ηλεκτρονικών υπολογιστών, συμπεριλαμβανομένου του MS Office (Word, Excel, MS-Outlook).
- Ακεραιότητα χαρακτήρα, υπευθυνότητα, οργανωτική και διοικητική ικανότητα, εχεμύθεια και ευθυκρισία.

• Περιγραφή εργασίας
- Χρέη ιδιαιτέρας γραμματέως Πρέσβη.
- Παροχή γραμματειακής υποστήριξης, συμπεριλαμβανομένης της διαχείρισης της αλληλογραφίας και του προγράμματος του Πρέσβη.
- Διευθέτηση συναντήσεων και διαχείριση ταξιδιωτικών διευθετήσεων.
- Εκτέλεση γενικών γραφειακών καθηκόντων.
- Βοηθά στην εκτέλεση ή / και αναλαμβάνει την εκτέλεση εργασίας, εντός και εκτός γραφείου, σχετικά με τις αρμοδιότητες και δραστηριότητες της Πρεσβείας.
- Συνεργασία με τα υπόλοιπα μέλη της Διπλωματικής Αποστολής, υπό τις οδηγίες του Αρχηγού Αποστολής.
- Οποιαδήποτε άλλα σχετικά καθήκοντα δυνατό να ανατεθούν από τον Αρχηγό της Διπλωματικής Αποστολής.
