On Friday 7th August, on the occasion of the Feast of Prophet Elias, the First Secretary of the Embassy, Mr. Michalis Foulias, and the Consul, Mr. Kostas Koullapis, attended the Divine Liturgy conducted by His Eminence Archbishop Christophoros of Kyriakoupolis, Patriarchal Commissoner of Amman, held at the archaeological site of Tel Mar Elias in Ajloun.

On 5th August 2026 the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Cyprus for Religious Freedoms and the Protection of Minorities in the Middle East, Ms Thessalia- Salina Siambou, accompanied by the Ambassador, Mr. Sevag Avedissian, and members of the Cypriot delegation, visited the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese where she was received by His Eminence Archbishop Christophoros of Kyriakoupolis, Patriarchal Commissioner of Amman. During the meeting the strong ties of the Republic of Cyprus with the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Archdiocese were reaffirmed. Ms Siambou also had the opportunity to visit the premises of the "St. Luke's Medical Association" clinic, administered by the Archdiocese. During the meeting with the clinic's Director and members of the Board, the latter expressed their appreciation and gratitude for the specialised medical equipment donated by the Government of the Republic of Cyprus and for the pharmaceutical products generously provided by the "Khoury Group" company based in Amman at the initiative of the Embassy.

From 20 to 22 July 2026, a delegation comprising representatives of UNODC Jordan, the UNODC Regional Office in Cairo, and Jordan’s Correction and Rehabilitation Centers Department (CRCD) conducted a study visit to Cyprus.

During the visit, the delegation met with directors of relevant departments at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus and with the Commissioner for Gender Equality. Meetings were also held with officials from several units and departments of the Cyprus Police and the Cyprus National Addictions Authority.

The program included visits to the Ayia Skepi Therapeutic Community in Filani and the Cyprus Center for Land, Open-seas and Port Security (CYCLOPS) in Larnaca. The visit provided an important opportunity to exchange technical expertise and good practices, strengthen professional networks, and explore possibilities for cross-sectoral collaboration. Particular emphasis was placed on enhancing cooperation and exchanges at both the bilateral level between Cyprus and Jordan and the wider regional level, with the technical support and guidance of UNODC.

The Ambassador, Mr. Sevag Avedissian, accompanied the delegation throughout the study visit.

On 13 July 2026, the Ambassador , Mr. Sevag Avedissian, conducted a field visit to the Jordan River Foundation "Queen Rania Family and Child Center" in east Amman. During the visit the Ambassador was informed about the progress of the various programs that are being implemented by the foundation in cooperation with UNICEF, with the financial support of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus. Through programs such as " Stronger Together", mothers and daughters are learning side by side, parents are gaining the necessary skills to raise their children with care and fathers are stepping up as caregivers and supportive partners.

Today, 2 July 2026, the Ambassador had a meeting with H.E. the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Jordan, Dr. Azmi Mahafzah. The two sides explored ways of further developing cooperation in the fields of higher education and research, through regular contacts between the competent Ministries as well between universities and research institutes, academic exchange programs, the joint organization of seminars as well as scholarship schemes. In this regard, it was agreed that different programs and tools offered by the European Union should be utilized. The Deputy Director of the Department of European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates, Mrs Tamara Al Raqqad, was also present at the meeting.

On 28 June 2026 an event titled "Bridges of Understanding- An Evening of Intercultural Dialogue", co-organised by the Embassy of Cyprus and Dr. Rula Samain, author and CEO of Anovia Magazine, took place, with the participation of religious figures, representatives of Embassies, officials, journalists and others. The theme of the event was interfaith and intercultural dialogue, which is among the priorities of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The Ambassador delivered the opening address while the main speakers were Dr. Samain and Ms Yiota Kutulas, a researcher in the aforementioned field from Cyprus. A networking reception followed.
