We will be conducting breast cancer and cervical cancer screenings during Pink Ribbon Month in October.

October is "Pink Ribbon Month," a time dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer and the importance of screenings. Breast cancer frequently affects women in their 40s and 50s, while the incidence of cervical cancer begins to rise among women in their 20s; both are forms of cancer that strike women during their prime working years. To address this, the Nagahama City Health Center will be conducting breast and cervical cancer screenings as part of Pink Ribbon Month.

Registration: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM / 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
【Location】 Nagahama City Health Center (Kobori-cho)
【Eligibility】
Breast cancer screening: Female residents aged 40 or older who did not undergo the city's breast cancer screening in the previous fiscal year.
Cervical cancer screening: Female residents aged 20 or older who did not undergo the city's cervical cancer screening in the previous fiscal year.
※Note: Individuals with symptoms, those currently under medical observation, and those who previously required a detailed follow-up examination but have not yet received one are not eligible for this screening.
【Fees】Breast cancer screening: 1,800 yen (age 49 or younger)
1,500 yen (age 50 or older)
Cervical cancer screening: 1,500 yen

Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli infectious disease multiple warning is being issued
[A multiple-incidence alert has been issued for the prefecture from August 25 to September 6, 2026 (3rd issue in this year)]

The main symptoms are abdominal pain and diarrhea (sometimes soft stools). Progression of symptoms may result in bloody diarrhea (bloody stools) or may cause renal damage called Hemolytic uremic syndrome.
Let's consult with a medical institution early when there is symptom to be worried about

[To prevent Enterohemorrhagic E. coli infection]
• Be aware about the following in the case of meal
• Wash your hands thoroughly with soap before cooking.
• Make sure to heat the meat and other food you eat. (The center temperature of the food is 75 degrees, which requires heating for 1 minute or more.)
• If you eat grilled meat while cooking, prepare chopsticks that handle raw meat and chopsticks that you eat.
• Avoid eating raw meat as there is a risk of food poisoning. In particular, children and the elderly are at increased risk of getting worse.

• If you touch the patient's stools for care of excretion, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water and disinfect.

Issuance of Food Poisoning Alert

A warning for food poisoning was issued in Shiga (6th time this year).
Period: From August 26 (Wed) to September 1 (Tue), 2026

We are in a period favorable to the incidence of food poisoning. We must be very careful with food. When handling it, always practice the principles of "clean, quick, and heating".

[Notes on food poisoning warning]
1.Heat the food well as much as possible, avoid natural water, raw food especially stop eating raw meats.

2.Let's heat the food sufficiently so that the center of the food temperature becomes 75 C or more

3.Keep in mind own health, let 's wash the hands frequently before cooking and during cooking.

4.Let's keep foods that require refrigerate or frozen without leaving it at nitrogen temperature

5.There is a minimum opening and shutting of the refrigerator, and tidy up the inside of the refrigerator chamber to be efficient cooling.

6.After cooking, cook as much as needed. Let's eat as soon as possible.

7.Keep cookware such as dishes, knives, chopping boards clean at all times.

Please Do Not Flush Foreign Objects into the Sewer System

Incidents have occurred where foreign objects enter the sewer system, causing pumps to clog and stop functioning.
When a pump stops, sewage cannot flow to the treatment plant and instead overflows from manholes onto the street. In some cases, sewage may even back up and overflow from household toilets.
The sewer system is essential to our daily lives. We ask for your cooperation.

Items that must not be flushed:
■Paper products that do not dissolve in water: Disposable diapers, sanitary products, facial tissues, wet wipes, cigarette butts (even if an item is water-soluble, do not flush large quantities at once).
■Cloth items: Towels, handkerchiefs, underwear, etc.
■Oils: Cooking oil (tempura oil), engine oil, etc.
■Food waste: Vegetable scraps, leftover food, etc.
