She met counterparts at the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Public Security, and Health, highlighting our shared commitment to the safety of our respective nationals abroad. 🤝🏻 She also signed a new UK–Lao health MoU focused on emergency preparedness, stronger health systems, and equitable access to care.

She also engaged Chevening Awards (FCDO) scholars 🎓— supporting Laos’ future leaders—as the UK continues to build practical partnerships across the Indo‑Pacific.

UK to expand support for UXO clearance, healthcare during Minister’s visit to Laos

The United Kingdom will announce additional funding for the clearance of unexploded ordnance (UXO) in Laos during the visit to the country on Thursday of UK Minister for the Indo-Pacific, Seema Malhotra, reinforcing Britain’s continued support in addressing the humanitarian and development impacts of UXO contamination. Lao PDR Advances Nature-Positive Development Through Biodiversity No Net Loss Policy

On 22 May, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment convened a high-level meeting to advance nature-positive investment in Lao PDR, bringing together government, development partners, the private sector, and conservation organisations.

Chaired by H.E. Dr. Linkham Douangsavanh, discussions focused on establishing a coordinated national approach to biodiversity offsets under the proposed National Aggregate Biodiversity Framework.

The UK is proud to support this work through the FCDO Forest Governance, Markets and Climate Programme, in partnership with WCS Lao PDR ອົງການອະນຸລັກສັດປ່າ ປະຈຳ ສປປ ລາວ and ADB Lao PDR
