Earlier today, I had an enriching conversation with the CEO OF TAF AFRICA Global, Mr. Mustapha Njie.

On the invitation of our President, His Excellence Amb Joseph Nuymah Boakai, Mr. Njie is currently leading a business delegation to Explore opportunities In Liberia.

Taf Africa Global, a frontline Pan African real estate development company with presence in about eight, African countries including Nigeria, Sierra Leone and The Gambia, is on a mission to build one million affordable, high-quality homes across Sub-Saharan Africa by 2063, in alignment with the AU Agenda

As Mayor of the City of Monrovia, this visit is a profound opportunity for us to forge concrete Public Private Partnership by leveraging on the numerous opportunities that exist in Monrovia for urban transformation.

The strategic transformation of slum communities will not only breathe new life into informal settlements, but will also drive economic revitalization, build communities , and enhance the urban experience of the residents. It is in this regard that we are hoping to move beyond theory and demonstrate practical partnership.

Working along with Mr. Njie, we want to start by taking one community at a time and transform it into a modern urban space.

Mr. Njie and I have agreed to arrange a
a more detailed and technical meeting and subsequently embark on sites visitation to ensure successful partnerships by bridging the gap between theoretical planning and physical reality.

As we strive to transform our city, we are increasingly cognizant that planning remains the linchpin that drives organizational success. In this regard, we have embarked on a two-day workshop focused on Directorate Performance Compliance, Strategic Planning and Work plan Development and alignment.

The two-day session is designed to bridge the gap between high-level strategy and daily municipal operations, under the theme" Strategic Alignment and Operational Excellence."

Additionally, the primary goal of the two-day workshop is to ensure that every directorate within the Monrovia City Corporation is moving in a unified direction toward achieving the Institution's overachieving goals as contained on the MCC 5 Years Strategic Plan.

Employees of the Monrovia City Corporation are the essential force behind the daily operation and management of city affairs. We have a serious job and we are committed to fixing the issues confronting our city.

Earlier today, I received a delegation from the Republic of Turkey led by Mr. Mustafa Kemel Basa, Deputy Director General for Administrative and Financial Issues at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey.

During our High-level talks, Mr. Basa unveiled the intent of the government of Turkey to establish an Embassy in Liberia and to subsequently commence direct flights from Instanbul to Monrovia.

We deeply appreciate the interest of the Turkish Government to foster cooperation on a new footprint. The establishment of a Turkish Embassy in Liberia will not only strengthen diplomatic relations, but more importantly, enhance Liberia's aviation sector, boost trade and tourism, and also provide an opportunity for partnerships at the local government level through sister city collaboration with cities in Turkey.

We want to appreciate our distinguished Foreign Minister Madam Beysolow Nyanti, for her dynamic leadership and vital role in initiating and facilitating these crucial diplomatic discussions with our foreign counterparts.

We reaffirmed our readiness to work closely on issues of mutual interest.

Two years ago, under the leadership of His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, the GOL made a deliberate decision that Sanitation must become a national priority as enshrined directly in the ARREST Agenda and AAID Pillar 5 on Environmental Sustainability.

Over the last two years, we are continuing to embark on practical actions to support the president's vision.

Together with partners, the Monrovia City Corporation, today officially inaugurated a composting facility to support the city's move toward sustainable waste management, particularly through Organic Waste Recycling.

The construction of the Compositing Facility facility in Fiama, aligns with our vision to set up critical infrastructures that aim to address Monrovia’s waste management challenges by converting organic waste into valuable resources, while creating economic opportunities in the process.

The project is a collaboration between the Monrovia City Corporation, Environmental Protection Agency, Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation and local waste management stakeholders with support from the Canadian government through the MRV for Climate Action Project in Liberia.

The core goal of the project is to convert green/organic waste into high-quality compost, which will then be utilized to support local agriculture.

This shift is expected to generate green job opportunities and advance a sustainable circular economy within Monrovia and its environs.

The composite facility will further ensure the following benefits:
* Organic fertilizer for agriculture**
* Reduced landfill burden**
* Lower operational costs**
* Climate action through methane reduction**
* New jobs and enterprises**

Thanks to the LWSC and EPA for the cordial intergovernmental collaboration. We are immensely grateful to the Canadian government through the MRV Climate Action Liberia Project for the support.

🌍🇱🇷 Monrovia Makes History for Africa

For the very first time, Liberia — through the Monrovia City Corporation — will host a continental Executive Training Programme on Land-Based Revenue for African Cities.

From March 9–13, 2026, Monrovia becomes the meeting point for senior city leaders and planners from across Africa under the theme:

“Unlocking Land-Based Revenue: Executive Training for African City Leaders and Planners.”

This is more than a training.
It is a breakthrough moment.

Delivered in partnership with the University of Pretoria’s Chair in Municipal Finance and the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, this high-level programme will bring together 30–35 top city officials from Liberia and across the continent to rethink how African cities finance their future.

For too long, our cities have depended primarily on aid.
This programme challenges us to think differently.

Land is not just space.
Land is value.
Land is opportunity.
Land is wealth that — when governed transparently and strategically — can finance roads, markets, drainage systems, public spaces, sanitation, and better services for our people.

Monrovia was strategically selected as host because we are undergoing real reforms:
✔️ Strengthening fiscal systems
✔️ Advancing modern urban planning
✔️ Driving revenue innovation
✔️ Building a more self-reliant city

For five days, our city will become a classroom. Participants will engage in intensive learning, policy dialogue, and field visits across Monrovia — turning our urban challenges into practical case studies for African solutions.

But the impact will not end after five days.

This pilot positions Monrovia as:
🔹 A regional knowledge hub
🔹 A laboratory for applied urban reform
🔹 A potential long-term technical partner city for land-based revenue innovation

This is a proud moment for Liberia. 🇱🇷
This is continental leadership in action. 🌍

We are not just participating in Africa’s urban transformation.
We are helping to lead it.

We are thrilled to announce an ongoing initiative to bolster sanitation services across our local townships. I am currently leading a team from the MCC that is actively distributing essential sanitation equipment to support a cleaner, healthier community for all residents. We kicked off the exercise in the Township of Congo Town and we are currently in the Township of GARWORLOHN and our next stop will be the Borough of New Kru Town.

The Mayor of Newark City, New Jersey, is visiting our city and I am pleased to inform you that Mayor Ras Baraka and I had a productive conversation that touched on a number of issues that aim to forge concrete collaboration and sustainable partnership between the cities of Monrovia and Newark. I am particularly thankful to my brother, Inspector General Gregory Coleman for being the linchpin that made this visit possible.
The visit of Mayor Baraka to Monrovia is an opportunity for the two historic cities bound by shared aspirations to work in practical and transformational terms.
His presence in our city shows that he and the people of Newark are ready for a deeper partnership and we are also looking forward to people to people relationship between our two cities.

My meeting with Mayor Baraka focused on several key issues of collaboration and proposed areas for investment opportunities :
