H.E. Ambassador Franklin Aquilina paid a courtesy visit to the President of the High Council of State (HCS), H.E. Dr Mohammed Takala, at the Council’s headquarters in Tripoli, accompanied by Deputy Head of Mission Mr Shaun Chircop Troisi.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on the latest political developments in Libya and ongoing efforts aimed at advancing the political process and overcoming the current impasse.

Ambassador Aquilina reaffirmed Malta’s continued support for the efforts of UNSMIL in facilitating a Libyan-led and Libyan-owned political process, in line with relevant UN resolutions and international efforts aimed at promoting stability, unity, and national reconciliation in Libya.

The Ambassador also welcomed the opportunity to hear H.E. Dr Takala’s and the HCS’s perspectives on these efforts and on recent developments, as well as the role of the High Council of State in this regard.

Discussions further focused on the longstanding friendship between Malta and Libya and ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across various sectors. Regional issues of mutual interest in the Mediterranean, particularly irregular migration and efforts to address its challenges, were likewise discussed. 🇲🇹 🇱🇾

قام سعادة السفير فرانكلين أكويلينا بزيارة ودية لرئيس المجلس الأعلى للدولة، سعادة الدكتور محمد تكالة، في مقر المجلس بالعاصمة طرابلس، وكان رفقة سعادته نائب رئيس البعثة السيد شون كيركوب ترويزي.

وقد شكل اللقاء فرصة لتبادل وجهات النظر حول آخر التطورات السياسية في ليبيا، والجهود الجارية الرامية إلى دفع العملية السياسية وتجاوز حالة الانسداد الحالي.

وجدد السفير أكويلينا تأكيد دعم مالطا المستمر لجهود بعثة الأمم المتحدة للدعم في ليبيا (UNSMIL) لتيسير عملية سياسية يقودها ويملكها الليبيون، تماشياً مع قرارات الأمم المتحدة ذات الصلة والجهود الدولية الرامية إلى تعزيز الاستقرار والوحدة والمصالحة الوطنية في ليبيا.
كما رحب السفير بفرصة الاستماع إلى رؤى سعادة الدكتور تكالة والمجلس الأعلى للدولة بشأن هذه الجهود والتطورات الأخيرة، فضلاً عن دور المجلس الأعلى للدولة في هذا الصدد.

وبالإضافة إلى ذلك، ركزت المباحثات على علاقات الصداقة العريقة بين مالطا وليبيا، وسبل تعزيز التعاون الثنائي في مختلف القطاعات. كما جرى مناقشة القضايا الإقليمية ذات الاهتمام المشترك في منطقة البحر الأبيض المتوسط، لا سيما الهجرة غير النظامية والجهود المبذولة لمواجهة تحدياتها. 🇲🇹 🇱🇾

The Ambassador of Malta, H. E. Franklin Aquilina, had the pleasure of welcoming representatives of the Tuareg community at the Embassy, with whom he discussed possible avenues of cooperation between Malta and Libya, with particular focus in and around the ancient city of Ghat.

The discussions focused on opportunities to strengthen dialogue, cultural exchange, and cooperation in areas of mutual interest. The Ambassador appreciated the open and constructive exchange and the insights shared on the realities and aspirations of the community.

Malta remains committed to fostering engagement with all components of Libyan society and to supporting initiatives that contribute to stability, understanding, and regional cooperation.

The Ambassador of Malta to Libya, H.E. Mr Franklin Aquilina, paid a courtesy call on the Libyan Minister of Finance, H.E. Dr Rashid Abu Ghaffa, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Tripoli.

During the meeting, discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Malta and Libya, particularly in the field of public finance and institutional capacity building. The two sides explored possible cooperation with specialised Maltese centres and institutions aimed at enhancing the professional capacities of Ministry officials in modern public financial management and public finance reform, in line with international governmental accounting standards.

Ambassador Aquilina congratulated the Minister on assuming his new responsibilities and reaffirmed Malta’s readiness to provide technical support and contribute towards programmes aimed at advancing public finance reform efforts in Libya, with the objective of supporting economic and financial stability in the country. 🇲🇹 🤝 🇱🇾

قام سفير جمهورية مالطا لدى ليبيا، سعادة السيد فرانكلين أكويلينا، بزيارة ودية لسعادة وزير المالية الليبي، الدكتور راشيد أبو غفة، في مقر الوزارة بالعاصمة طرابلس.

وخلال اللقاء، ركزت المباحثات على تعزيز التعاون الثنائي بين مالطا وليبيا، لا سيما في مجال المالية العامة وبناء القدرات المؤسسية. واستعرض الجانبان سبل التعاون الممكن مع المراكز والمؤسسات المالطية المتخصصة بهدف تعزيز القدرات المهنية لمسؤولي الوزارة في مجالات الإدارة المالية العامة الحديثة وإصلاح المالية العامة، بما يتماشى مع معايير المحاسبة الحكومية الدولية.

The Ambassador of Malta to Libya, H.E. Mr Franklin Aquilina, accompanied by the Head of Political, Mr Andrew Sant Fournier, met with the Prime Minister of Libya, H.E. Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, during an important and highly constructive meeting held in Tripoli.

The discussions focused on matters of mutual interest and on further strengthening cooperation between Malta and Libya across a number of strategic sectors.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the longstanding partnership between the two countries and expanding the areas of bilateral cooperation in a manner that contributes to opening new horizons for coordination and mutual benefit. 🇲🇹 🤝 🇱🇾

H.E. Franklin Aquilina, Ambassador of Malta to Libya, accompanied by Deputy Head of Mission, Mr Shaun Chircop Troisi, had the pleasure of visiting شركة عرار / Arar Co in Tajoura.

Arar Trading Co. is the exclusive distributor of Foster Clark’s, a well-known Maltese household name, among a wide range of other products. During the visit, the Ambassador was provided with a comprehensive overview of the company’s operations and its extensive outreach across Libya.

Ambassador Aquilina expressed the Embassy’s appreciation for Arar Trading Co.’s role in distributing and promoting Foster Clark’s products, contributing to making this Maltese brand a familiar and trusted name in Libyan households. Such partnerships reflect the strong commercial ties and shared opportunities between Malta and Libya.

The Embassy encourages companies such as Arar Trading Co. to continue strengthening trade links with Maltese businesses and reaffirms its readiness to facilitate and support further collaboration.
