High Commissioner M. Rizvi Hassen, on an invitation by Hon. Mohamed Nazim, paid a visit to Kaafu Atoll Guraidhoo and met Mr. Ibrahim Shaleez, President of the Local Council, members and senior officials of the council. High Commissioner also visited the Home for People with Special Needs, where he met with Mr. Hussain Yameen Mohamed, Chief Executive of the Home for People with Special Needs, and his dedicated team. The visit was accompanied by the Counsellor of the High Commission, Thimuthu Dissanayake for the visit.

As part of Mission’s programme in engaging with Sri Lankan nationals employed in domestic sector in the Maldives, the High Commission of Sri Lanka recently organized an interactive discussion for Sri Lankan women employed in the domestic sector. The session focused on issues related to their employment and welfare.

The discussion provided participants with an opportunity to share their experiences, concerns, and suggestions regarding their work and living conditions in the Maldives.

During the programme, Ms. Shameema Firdousz, Sri Lankan psychologist living in the Maldives, conducted an informative session on professional conduct, workplace behavior, personal grooming, and effective communication. She shared practical guidance and valuable insights aimed at enhancing participants’ personal and professional development.

High Commissioner M. Rizvi Hassen received Mr. Ahmed Arshad, Director of Avia Maldives, and his team at the Chancery today (14 June 2026) to explore potential B2B partnerships in the aviation, travel, and tourism sectors. Discussions focused on creating avenues to institutionalize business networking and identifying potential areas for business matchmaking between Sri Lankan and Maldivian stakeholders. The meeting also explored opportunities for enhanced collaboration aimed at strengthening commercial linkages between the two countries.

The Mission has embarked on a proactive engagement programme with key private sector entities in the Maldives to promote and strengthen business, trade, tourism, and investment activities between Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
