Preparing for the International Migration Review Forum 2026 🌍

IOM, in partnership with the Government of Maldives 🇲🇻, conducted a one‑day multi‑stakeholder consultation in preparation for the International Migration Review Forum (IMRF) 2026.

👥 The consultation brought together government institutions, UN agencies, and key stakeholders to support the Maldives’ Voluntary National Review of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM).

📌 Through presentations and facilitated discussions, participants reviewed progress under priority GCM objectives, identified challenges and data gaps, and highlighted good practices and initiatives.

🎯 The consultation contributes to ensuring that the Maldives’ submission to IMRF 2026 reflects national achievements, inclusive stakeholder perspectives, and forward‑looking priorities for effective migration governance

Kristin Parco, Chief of Mission Sri Lanka and the Maldives, met with Dr. Abdulla Nazeer, Minister of State for Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development of the Maldives 🇲🇻 to reflect on shared priorities in .

Their discussion explored labour migration governance, occupational health and safety, and opportunities to strengthen migration management in line with the Government’s priorities.
