WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION

The Eenhana Town Council hereby informs all residents and stakeholders that there will be a planned water supply interruption on Thursday, 10 September 2026, from 09h00 to 17h00.

This shutdown, carried out by NamWater, is essential to repair three (3) major leakages on the Oshakati-Omakango pipeline. The works are aimed at improving the reliability of water supply and enhancing service delivery to the community.

All residents and stakeholders are kindly cautioned to use water sparingly and responsibly during the interruption period.

Update: Stakeholder Consultation Meeting – Street Trading in Eenhana

The Eenhana Town Council recently convened a successful stakeholder consultation meeting with representatives from the Namibian Police Force (NAMPOL), Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA), the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security – Directorate of Immigration, the Consulate General of Angola, and the Street Trading Committee.

The meeting provided a formal platform to deliberate on crucial matters relating to the management of street trading in Eenhana. Stakeholders engaged constructively to:

Identify and discuss key challenges associated with the current street trading environment.

Review compliance with Council’s Street Trading Regulations and other applicable laws.

Provide technical and operational input on the proposed re‑arrangement of designated trading areas.

Explore mechanisms for registration, regulation, monitoring, and enforcement of street trading activities.

Clarify and strengthen stakeholder roles and responsibilities.

Develop practical, coordinated interventions for sustainable and orderly street trading management.

The deliberations were marked by strong collaboration and shared commitment to improving the trading environment. The Council expressed optimism that the outcomes of this engagement will pave the way for effective solutions and enhanced service delivery.

The meeting concluded successfully, and preparations are underway for the next round of consultations with traders, ensuring inclusivity and transparency in shaping the future of street trading in Eenhana.

CALL FOR YOUTH EXHIBITORS

Young innovators, students, tech entrepreneurs and ICT enthusiasts are invited to apply to exhibit their projects at the 9th National ICT Summit & Hackathon 2026 Youth & Hackathon Days, taking place from 15–16 October 2026.

The opportunity is open to young people aged 18–35 from Oshana, Omusati, Ohangwena, Oshikoto and Kunene who have developed ICT-based projects, prototypes, apps or solutions addressing real-life challenges.

Selected exhibitors will have the opportunity to showcase their projects, pitch to delegates, judges and potential partners, and receive mentorship and feedback. The Innovation Exhibition Prize Pool is N$20,000.

Courtesy Visit by the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA)

The Eenhana Town Council Management Team recently engaged with the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) during their courtesy visit to Eenhana. The engagement forms part of NSA’s national initiative to rebase the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), ensuring that Namibia’s economic indicators remain precise, relevant, and reflective of current production and consumption patterns.

During the visit, the NSA team outlined the importance of stakeholder cooperation in strengthening the National Statistical System (NSS). Key objectives included:

Understanding enterprise databases and data‑capturing procedures.

Highlighting the role of enterprises in providing high‑quality data.

Promoting international classifications and the use of administrative records.

Strengthening stakeholder engagement and sustainable networks.

Addressing data needs, gaps, and modalities for future exchanges.

The Council reaffirmed its commitment to supporting this national undertaking, recognising that accurate data is essential for evidence‑based policy formulation, investment facilitation, and sustainable economic development.

The engagement underscored the strategic role of local authorities in contributing to Namibia’s broader economic vision.
