Welcoming IFACCA’s new Deputy Chair

Ms Michelle Chawla is Director and CEO of Council for the Arts | Conseil des arts du Canada. With nearly 30 years in the field of public arts and culture funding, Ms Chawla has extensive leadership expertise in public policy, intergovernmental relations, governance, corporate communications, international engagement and major transformation initiatives. Ms Chawla is deeply committed to making sure the arts are a vibrant part of Canadians’ lives in communities big and small, rural and remote, urban and suburban, from coast to coast to coast.

In accepting the role, she stated: “I’m honoured to take on the role of Deputy Chair and to support IFACCA’s vital international work. At a time of profound global transformation, arts and culture help us build understanding and imagine new possibilities together. I look forward to deepening our collective efforts so that creativity can continues to benefit people and communities around the world.”

We are delighted to welcome Ms Chawla as Deputy Chair and look forward to her contributions to the IFACCA Board.

Introducing IFACCA’s new Chair, Mr Maanka A. Chipindi

Director and CEO of the National Arts Council of Zambia, Mr Chipindi is a leader in the cultural and creative sectors of Zambia and is recognised for his significant contributions to advance and champion arts and culture in the Africa region and beyond. His experience in cultural governance, strategic public‑sector leadership, and implementation of evidence‑based policymaking will be invaluable as he steps into this role.

In accepting the position of Chair, he shared:
"I am deeply honoured to be elected Chair of IFACCA. IFACCA represents a vital platform for us in Zambia, across Africa, and throughout our international network. In a world that is more complex than ever, organisations like IFACCA keep us connected, engaged, and in meaningful dialogue...”

We look forward to his stewardship and the vision he brings to our international community.

Goethe-Institut Namibia is currently undergoing renovations. While our
space is moving and getting an uplift, we’re opening our parking lot as a
temporary creative stage for public activations.

We are inviting artists, performers, creators, designers, and imaginative
doers to propose small-scale public events or creative interventions that
can take place in our outdoor space.
