N/a’an ku sê Foundation

N/a’an ku sê Foundation Dr. Rudie and Marlice van Vuuren, together with long-time friend, Dr. Jannes Brandt, started the N/a’an ku sê Foundation in 2006.
(218)

With the support of Dutch philanthropists, Jan and Tineke Verburg, the N/a’an ku sê dream was born. Our purpose is “to help conserve the landscapes of Namibia, to protect the wildlife, and to improve the lives of the people we work with through sustainable innovative commercial activity”. And this vision is perfectly embodied in N/a’an ku sê’s wildlife sanctuary, run by Marlice and her innate abil

ity and desire to care for and protect Namibia’s vulnerable wildlife. Our carnivore conservation research projects further enhance the conservation strides made by N/a’an ku sê, with humanitarian efforts supporting the world’s most ancient culture - a school and clinic provide free education and healthcare to the San community. After all, sustainable and long-term solutions are the key factor in conserving today for tomorrow.

“We believe that we hold this invaluable heritage in our hands for future generations. We cannot undo what has been done, but we can shape our future,” Dr. Rudie van Vuuren

We do not receive any government funding and rely solely on the generosity of donors, ecotourism and the dedication of volunteers to continue our vital work. Our conservation dream… your conservation adventure.

🌟 What a busy and rewarding day at the Naankuse Lifeline Clinic! 💙

Our amazing Lifeline Clinic volunteers teamed up with the wonderful volunteers from Harnas Foundation Wildlife Sanctuary for an afternoon full of care, kindness, and community spirit. 🙌

Together, they helped serve nutritious meals to local families (a huge thank you to Namib Mills for your continued support! 🥣❤️), tackled mountains of school uniforms made extra grubby by energetic little adventurers, and helped keep the youngsters healthy with hair washing and shaving to prevent pesky fungal scalp infections. ✨🧼✂️

A big round of applause to everyone who rolled up their sleeves and made a difference today. Your compassion and hard work are changing lives, one smile at a time! 🌍💚

🐾 | Remembering Hope 🦏💚

Today, we take a heartfelt journey back in time to remember a very special rhino — Hope.

In 2020, Hope arrived at the Shiloh Wildlife Sanctuary as a fragile two-week-old calf after the devastating loss of her mother. Alone and vulnerable, she captured our hearts from the very beginning.

With round-the-clock love, dedication, and care from her devoted caregivers, Hope grew stronger every day. She blossomed into a magnificent young rhino, full of spirit and resilience. One of our proudest moments was watching her step into her new life on the Zannier Reserve alongside her rhino companion, Tippi — a symbol of everything she had overcome.

Sadly, Hope's journey was cut far too short. She passed away before reaching adulthood from suspected pneumonia, leaving a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Though her time with us was brief, Hope's legacy lives on. She reminded us why every life matters, why every rescue is worth fighting for, and why conservation remains so important. We will forever remember her with love, admiration, and immense pride.

Today, as we share this special throwback video of her release onto the Zannier Reserve, we invite you to remember Hope with us — a true rhino among rhinos. ❤️🦏

🏌️‍♂️⛳ We were swinging for a great cause! 💚

What an incredible day at the Omeya Golf Tournament on 5 June! The Naankuse team showed up in full force, sharing the inspiring work of the Naankuse Foundation and Naankuse Eco-Tourism Collection throughout the clubhouse and across the course.

From exciting challenges at every hole to plenty of laughs along the fairways, players were kept entertained all day long. The festivities wrapped up with a mouth-watering spit braai and dinner under the stars in the beautiful Omeya riverbed. ✨🔥

A highlight of the evening was the auction, featuring unique prizes that not only delighted bidders but also helped raise valuable funds for the Naankuse Foundation. 🙌

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated, supported, donated, and made this event such a success. Together, we're making a difference—one swing at a time! 💚⛳

🌍💚 Today is World Environment Day, and this year’s message is clear: a sustainable planet starts with saying NO to pollution.

Plastic pollution remains one of the greatest environmental threats of our time, with many plastic products taking hundreds of years to break down — if they ever do.

At Naankuse, we believe every action counts. From coastal clean-up initiatives in western Namibia to community litter collection projects in Epukiro in the east, we are committed to protecting the natural beauty of our country. Across the Naankuse Ecotourism Collection, we actively reduce plastic use by choosing sustainable glass alternatives wherever possible.

Together, we can create a cleaner, greener future and build a planet that future generations will be proud to call home. 🌱♻️
