One tiny elephant. One unforgettable Encounter... pun intended.

Big ears. Tiny feet. Zero intention of being left behind. 🐘

The bush has a way of stealing your heart when you're least expecting it.

Some places ask you to look at the view.
Horizon invites you to become part of it.

Wake to endless horizons, soak beneath a thatched roof with the wilderness at your feet, and end the day watching the sun disappear beyond the treetops from your private deck.

With just three secluded villas, Horizon by Ongava is where luxury becomes space, silence and perspective.

Some favourites are easy to explain. Others leave you looking up at the sky in awe.

For guide Binius, it's the magnificent Verreaux's Eagle.

With a wingspan of up to 2.3 metres, these powerful raptors are masters of Namibia's rocky landscapes, soaring effortlessly on thermals as they search for prey. They're perhaps best known for hunting rock hyraxes (dassies), which make up the majority of their diet.

Join Binius as he shares why this incredible bird has earned a special place on his list of favourites.

There is a certain elegance to a kudu bull that stops you in your tracks.

With his spiralled horns, soft grey coat and pale vertical stripes, he seems almost designed for the filtered light of the bush. At Ongava, on the edge of Etosha, sightings like this are a reminder that the smaller, quieter moments of safari are often just as memorable as the headline encounters.

Not every wilderness moment announces itself. Some simply step into view.

Two little hornbills sitting in a tree...

While both species are common sights around Ongava, the Southern Yellow-billed Hornbill and Monteiro's Hornbill are easy to tell apart.

The Yellow-billed Hornbill sports a bright yellow bill and distinctive black-and-white plumage, while the Monteiro's Hornbill has a red-orange bill and a distinct black bib with white underparts.

Listen closely, too. Monteiro's Hornbills are famous for their loud, laughing calls that often echo through the bush.

Which one have you spotted on your safari?
