The colourful ceremony, held at the Council Headquarters, featured the Executive Chairman of Enugu East Local Government Area, Engr. Pst. Beloved-Dan Obi Anike, who was represented by the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Barr. Uchenna Mbaeke.

Delivering the Chairman’s goodwill message, Barr. Mbaeke congratulated the outgoing Corps Members on behalf of the Executive Chairman, the Government, and the good people of Enugu East Local Government Area for successfully completing one of the most significant chapters of their lives.

He further highlighted the Council’s unwavering commitment to human capital development, describing it as one of the most outstanding local government initiatives in Nigeria. According to him, the Council’s sustained investments in education, youth empowerment, skills acquisition, and people-centred programmes reflect the administration’s conviction that the greatest asset of any society is its people.

Barr. Mbaeke encouraged the Corps Members to cherish the experiences gained during their service year, build lasting relationships, continue developing themselves through learning and skills acquisition, and regard their NYSC Discharge Certificates not as the end of a journey but as the foundation for greater accomplishments. He urged them to become innovators, entrepreneurs, professionals, employers of labour, and worthy ambassadors of the National Youth Service Corps wherever they find themselves.

The ceremony was attended by officials of Enugu East Local Government, NYSC officials led by the State Coordinator, Corps Members, and other stakeholders, who joined in celebrating the successful completion of the service year by the outgoing Batch ‘B’ Stream I Corps Members.

Enugu Police Command Host Stakeholders’ Town Hall Meeting to Strengthen Community Security; Commends Governor Mbah and Engr Beloved Dans Support to the Command.

The Nigeria Police Force, Enugu State Command, Enugu Metropolis Area Command, convened a One-Day Town Hall Meeting with Security Stakeholders on Thursday, 2nd July 2026. The engagement was hosted on behalf of the officers and men of the Command.

The town hall which is been hosted by the Commisioner of Police convened by CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc+ and convened by ACP Abubakar Yunusa, Area Commander, Enugu Metropolis provided a platform for dialogue between the Police Command and key stakeholders on improving safety, intelligence-sharing, and community policing within Enugu metropolis.

The initiative also aligns with the innovative approach to policing being championed by *Governor Peter Mbah* of Enugu State. Governor Mbah’s focus on technology-driven security, community partnership, and proactive policing has created an enabling environment for Commands and LGAs to engage directly with the public. The town hall meeting is a clear example of that vision in practice.

This milestone reflects the strong synergy between security agencies, stakeholders and local government leadership. The contributions of Engr. Beloved Dan, Chairman of Enugu East Local Government Area have been instrumental to these gains. Through logistical support, grassroots mobilization of stakeholders, and sustained investment in community security structures, Engr. Dan has helped bridge the gap between the Police and residents, ensuring that policing is more responsive and visible at the local level.

The meeting ended with a call for sustained collaboration among the Police, Local Government, and citizens to make Enugu safer for all residents.

The Enugu East Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held its Local Executive Council (LEC) meeting at the weekend with a renewed push for Permanent Voter Card (PVC) mobilization, grassroots restructuring, and greater participation in government programmes.

Opening the meeting, the APC Chairman in Enugu East, Engr. Okey Igboekwe, thanked members for their consistency and loyalty. Anike Announces Ward Unit Formalization, Urges Use of Health and Education Programmes

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Enugu East Local Government Area, Engr. Pst. Beloved-Dan Obi Anike, commended the peaceful conduct of the Enugu North Senatorial election and urged members to collect their PVCs to strengthen the party’s electoral fortunes.

He announced plans to formalize the party’s structure at the unit level beginning in July. Under the arrangement, each of the 386 polling units in Enugu East, out of over 4,000 statewide, will have a five-member leadership comprising a Chairman, Vice Chairman, Woman Leader, Secretary, and Youth Leader. The exercise is scheduled to commence next Saturday and, according to him, will enhance the equitable distribution of party positions and materials.

Speaking on human capital development, the chairman said the council is prioritizing aviation training to align with Enugu’s emergence as an international aviation hub. He also highlighted scholarship opportunities for JSS1 and SSS1 students, as well as 20 university beneficiaries. Expressing concern over the low participation of party members in the programmes, he announced an upcoming entrance examination for SS1 students, with plans to train 100 beneficiaries—80 from public schools and 20 from private schools.

The chairman concluded by presenting gifts to the oldest man and woman in each ward, a gesture that was warmly received by members.

The meeting, coordinated by the Party Secretary, featured reports from supervisors who monitored party activities across the wards, while newly nominated councillorship candidates attended in solidarity.

The Managing Director of ERWASA also addressed the gathering, commending members for their commitment to the party and urging them to obtain their PVCs to support APC candidates in future elections.

Raymond Ugwu, member representing Enugu East Rural Constituency; the Secretary to the Local Government, Barr. Uche Mbaeke, Hon. Chief Adam Ogbene; also reaffirmed their support for the party.
