🗣️ Mīharo!!! Awesome!!!📖

I haere mai ngā tangata kei ngā whare pukapuka mō Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori!
The people came to the libraries for Māori Language Week!

Kua nama mātou i ngā pukapuka Māori.
The library staff have been issuing Māori books.

Kua mānawatia tātou ki 'Ata Marie' me 'Morena' me 'Kia ora'.
We have been greeting each other with 'Ata Marie', 'Mōrena' and 'Kia ora'.

I te pānui pakiwaitara tino pai mō ngā tamariki kei Manuherekia rātou ko Tīrau, ko Roxburgh, ko Māniatoto.
There were great story sessions in Alexandra, Cromwell, Roxburgh and Māniatoto.

Ngā mihi nui mō ngā rawe kaipānui na Dunstan High School rātou ko Cromwell College, ko te hapori.
A big thank you to our fabulous readers from Dunstan High School, Cromwell College and the community.

🏗️ Remote Building Inspections are now available

We’re making building inspections a little easier with remote inspections through Objective Build.

Depending on the type of work and site conditions, some inspections can now be completed remotely. These may include under-slab services, blockwork, pre-plaster, pre-line plumbing, retaining walls and some re-inspections.

How does it work?

If your inspection is suitable for a remote inspection, your Building Inspector will contact the person on-site and send them a text with a link to join the inspection.

The person on-site will need:
• The consented plans and specifications
• Phone location services turned on
• Reliable internet or mobile data
• To safely access and show the building work to the inspector

When booking, please have your building consent number, the inspection type, and the name and mobile number of the person who will be on-site ready.

Remote inspections are offered at Council’s discretion, and some inspections will still need to be completed on site.

Hei āpōpō! Tomorrow!

It's a big day at Alexandra Library with three events being run in support of the Blossom Festival i tēnei wiki!

🔹10.30am-11.00am we have a special session of our pre-school Storytime with Spring themed stories and songs

🔹11am-1pm, we will be joined by Central Otago REAP who will be running a seed swap.

🔹1pm-4pm, you can make your own bouquet of paper flowers and upcycle pages from our damaged books. We will also be running this activity on Wednesday at 2pm. Space is limited so please let the staff at the library desk know if you would like to participate.

📚✨ Kia ora, I'm Jayde!

Jayde loves visiting the library to find new books, and she loves graphic novels, colouring in and playing board games with her family at the library. She also really loves the school holiday programme.

Libraries help tamariki like Jade learn, imagine, create, and have fun. That's why we're asking our community to help shape the future of Central Otago Libraries.

🔹Have your say: Roxburgh Entertainment Centre design concepts🔹

Over 50 community members recently joined us in Roxburgh to check out three high-level concept designs for the Entertainment Centre rebuild. Presented by Athfield Architects, the designs incorporate earlier community feedback and offer three distinct options:

🔹Scenario 1 (Close to original): 1,288m² footprint with a 260-seat auditorium and separate community space ($11.7m mid-range budget).

🔹Scenario 2 (Smaller auditorium): 1,142m² footprint featuring a 160-seat auditorium alongside separate hall and community spaces (~$10.5m mid-range budget).

🔹Scenario 3 (Flexible, multi-use): 857m² footprint combining the auditorium and hall into one flexible space (seating up to 160), plus community hub areas and outdoor courtyards (~$8.4m mid-range budget).

Now it’s your turn to tell us what you think! Your feedback will help refine the final design before it goes to Council for approval.

🌸Alexandra Library Closed for Blossom Festival🌸

Alexandra Library will be closed during the Blossom Festival next Saturday September 26.

We will be open our regular hours during the week and the team have some awesome Spring events and activities planned in support of the festival!

SH8 OMARAMA TO TARRAS (LINDIS PASS) - CRASH - FINAL UPDATE 8:05PM

The road is now fully OPEN following the prior crash.

The road remains CLOSED between Omarama and Tarras. Police SCU is attending to investigate the crash. Expect the closure through Lindis Pass to remain in place for several more hours.

Due to a serious crash, SH8 is now CLOSED between Omarama and Tarras. Road users are advised to avoid the area, or use an alternate route, the closure is expected to be in place for several hours.

Due to a crash, SH8 is now CLOSED between Cluden Creek Rd and Phillips Rd. Road users are advised to follow the directions by emergency services on-site, avoid the area or delay their journey. ^JP
