Congratulations to Cheviot local Maxim Cave, recipient of the Youth Volunteer Award at the Hurunui Community Awards.

As Head Boy of Cheviot Area School and a member of the Cheviot Volunteer Fire Brigade, Maxim is a fantastic example of leadership, service and community spirit.

A well-deserved achievement. Congratulations, Maxim! 💙

We are incredibly proud to share that our Head Boy, Maxim Cave, received the Youth Volunteer Award at last night’s Hurunui Community Awards.

Maxim was recognised for his outstanding commitment to serving both his school and the wider Cheviot community, while balancing the many demands of being a senior secondary student and Head Boy.

Alongside the leadership he provides at Cheviot Area School, Maxim is also a member of the Cheviot Volunteer Fire Brigade, where he helps to keep our community safe. Both roles require dedication, responsibility and a willingness to step up and respond when needed.

Maxim leads by example and makes a positive contribution to school life and the wider community. His service to Cheviot is greatly appreciated, and he is a very deserving recipient of this year’s Youth Volunteer Award.

Congratulations, Maxim – we are so proud of you! 👏

SH1 through to Cheviot is officially open. 🚙 🚗 🛻 💨

Planning on visiting the North Canterbury Wine Region this weekend - it's a great spot to escape the city and enjoy some of our incredible local wine and food on offer - and we are pleased to confirm that SH1 through to Cheviot NZ is officially open.

We also expect the road to Mt Lyford Ski Area and the Mt Lyford Lodge will be open from the south late today - and that the Mt Lyford Ski Area will be open on Saturday to get your snow fix!
