Cust Volunteer Fire Brigade The Cust Volunteer Fire Brigade is a group of local men and women working together to keep the community as safe as possible.

Welcome to the Cust Volunteer Fire Brigade page! Just as we enthusiastically adopt new technology to fight fires it is important in this increasingly digital age that we have the best means to communicate quickly with everyone in our “patch". Our aim is to keep you fully informed about the activities of the Brigade, topical fire safety matters and other events such as restricted and close

d fire seasons. The Brigade is entirely manned by volunteer men and women from your community. They come from ordinary everyday backgrounds, but they are extraordinarily dedicated to ensure that we live in the safest community possible. They are all highly trained and at a moments notice prepared to drop whatever they are doing to attend an emergency somewhere nearby, or in the wider North Canterbury area. Whilst our turnout area is largely rural, it has three schools, a very large forest, major arterial roads and approximately 3000 permanent residents. Many people commute through our area daily, to work in Rangiora and Christchurch, this is our patch. Please pop back regularly to see what the Brigade has been up to, to find out about interesting things that will help ensure the safety of you and your family,

A huge congratulations to Station Officers Johnny Riley and Stephen Withers on successfully completing the Volunteer Brigade Leadership Course.

This advanced course focuses on developing leadership, decision-making, and officer capabilities, with participants challenged through a range of realistic, simulated emergency scenarios.

Strong leadership is essential to maintaining a healthy, effective brigade and ensuring we continue to deliver vital fire and emergency services to our community.

Within Fire and Emergency New Zealand, members have access to a structured pathway of leadership and development courses as they progress through the ranks. While Cust Volunteer Fire Brigade already has a strong leadership team, Johnny and Stephen's commitment to ongoing learning and keeping up to date with the latest leadership and coaching practices demonstrates the professionalism and dedication they bring to the brigade. They continue to set a fantastic example for our members and the wider community.

Tomorrows the day! Cust brigade members Aidan, Paul and Jeremy will be climbing stairs as they take in the Sky Tower Challenge in full kit to raise funds and awareness for Blood Cancer New Zealand.
