Winter has finally kicked in cold mornings mean ice is likely in shaded areas, take extra care.

On another note, we have noticed a lot of vehicles with only one head light working, a quick check could save you from run in with the law.

8 calls last month for Darfield and 5 for Darfield South.
Great work Darfield.

There is no more putting it off, time to climb the beast!

Phil is first up, just as well, he reports a poor preparation for the climb, at 0730, followed by Emma at 1240, Emma thinks that she is ok to climb, we know she is secretly competitive and looking to beat last years time.

Danielle Brooker, runs at 0850, Danielle is running with the Defense Force, but she helps us out in Darfield so we are calling her a team member.

Philip and Emma will head off to Auckland to climb the Sky Tower in the annual Blood Cancer NZ fundraiser this Saturday. The training is done and they have collected an amazing $4771 of their $5000 goal. Thank you to everyone who has donated, we will keep you updated as the day unfolds

Every day 8 children and adults in New Zealand are diagnosed with a blood cancer like leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Blood Cancer NZ is the national charity dedicated to supporting patients and their families, this support can last months or even years.

Due to a serious accident on SH1 at Rakaia, SH1 is closed at the Rakaia Bridge.

This means we can expect heavier than normal traffic flows through Darfield as the traffic diverts through Rakaia Gorge.

Take extra care.

Proud faces all round at Darfield Volunteer Fire Brigade as we acknowledge our recently appointed Station Officers — Steve Fisher (Fish), Cameron Wall and Steve George (Chip's) — pictured with Darfield Chief Fire Officer Jason Clemens.

The new Station Officers will be helping build capability on the rural side of our merged brigade, supporting our response to wildfire and natural incidents.

Each brings their own experience, strengths and skills to the team, and together they’re looking forward to working alongside the brigade and leadership group to keep building resilience and capability for the challenges ahead.

Congratulations team 👏.

May the 4th is International Firefighters Day, thanks you to the amazing people who answer the call for help.

Speaking for calls last month continued to have a low number if calls, its almost winter now, there have been a couple of frosts, and we can expect to see ice in shaded parts of the road. Take extra care in the mornings.

Happy St Florian’s Day!

Today, 4th May, we recognise St Florian, the patron saint of firefighters, and mark International Firefighters’ Day.

A great opportunity to acknowledge the commitment, courage, and service of firefighters everywhere — career, volunteer, rural, urban, and support crews alike.

Stay safe, look after each other, and thank you to everyone who serves their community. 🚒🔥
