Our friends at Swannanoa VFB are about half-way through their epic walk today, fundraising in support of their member Sarah and her battle with the big C.

Thank you very much for your generous donation, plus it was a great night had by all

KMS Bingo Night was a great success!
Together we raised an epic $6,500 for our school astro turf! This is going to be an amazing space for the kids.
$500 of our total has gone to the Kirwee Fire Brigade to go towards the AED, which will be located on school lane. They still have a bit to go so if you're in a position to donate, please get InTouch with them!

Thank you to everyone who supported us with coming along to the night itself, purchasing raffle tickets, providing time and/or generously donating prizes!
A special mention of thanks to Jono Thirsty Acres for allowing us to hold events like Bingo and quiz nights at the local! This has helped us hugely in achieving our goal.

The Community Risk Management team have been doing a fantastic job sharing information and resources on fire safety.
Now is your chance to have a say about how you would like to get this information for the upcoming season.

Every year for the past 6+ years, we have held community meetings across Canterbury prior to the summer fire season. Usually we approach the communities and advertise our meetings, sometimes with success and sometimes not so successful.

This time though we thought we might try something a little bit different to kick off our preparedness sessions and ask you, the amazing people of Facebook and Instagram, where you think we should come and have a chat? What communities would like us to come educate them on the upcoming fire season and how to keep your properties safe?

We usually combine our sessions with speakers from Civil Defence and Police, to talk about evacuations and animal welfare during fires. Are there any other agencies you would like to hear from at these talks?

We want to hear your thoughts and ideas about how we can help you be fire safe this summer. So let us know below 👇

Thinking of a weekend project or working through your home improvements?
Why not take a stroll around your property and consider its accessibility in an emergency?

🚒 Is your house number or rapid number clearly visible? GPS & Google maps sure do help us, but they can lag behind our actual position.

🚒 Can a fire truck make easy access down the driveway to reach your property? We need a clear profile of 4m wide by 4m high to get our big red truck through easily.

Remember the easier we can get to you, the faster we can help you.

What a phenomenal community we have!!
Thanks to everyone who has supported us so far - we've managed to raise $3,200 towards new AEDs for the community!!

🚒 Why are we doing this? Our community is growing and we're all about saving lives. AEDs can make a critical difference in a cardiac event, and buys time for emergency services to attend.

🚑 We are grateful for the support so far and are working hard to reach our goal of $7,000. The aim is to fund additional, publicly accessible AEDs to put in the community.
