Reminder: Non-Uniform Day – Friday 7th August

A reminder that this Friday, 7th August, is a non-uniform day. Please bring a gold coin donation to support the Geraldine Children's Social Work Trust.

The Trust helps local early childhood centres and schools access the support of a Family Support Worker, making a positive difference for children and whānau in our community.

Today, GPS resumed its fortnightly visits to Waihi Lodge. Room 11 students took their ukuleles along and performed a song before singing a couple more, which were thoroughly enjoyed by the residents.

After introducing themselves and discovering that the oldest resident in the room was an impressive 101 years old, the students asked questions about what school was like when the residents were children. They heard stories about receiving the strap, taking lunch to school in a paper bag, and how there were no hot chips from the dairy or Friday sausage sizzles!

One resident also shared fascinating memories of his time in Antarctica, where it was his job to care for more than 100 huskies and drive the husky teams. Thank you Waihi Lodge, we look forward to seeing you in a fortnight.

Week 2 - what’s going on?

All week we have lunch time football practice for our 3 year 5 and 6 football tournament teams.

Year 5 men’s shed starts on Wednesday.

Geraldine Primary students recently took part in a Trees for Survival planting day on Andy Palmer’s farm on M**f Road. 23 students, including our head students, whānau leaders and student council representatives, planted native trees alongside local waterways. This has been a fantastic project from seed to planting and an opportunity for our students to care for the environment. A huge thanks to Chris Konings from Trees for Survival, Fonterra staff volunteers and Andy and his incredible wife for the amazing hospitality and kai. Also thanks to Mrs Wynn, Mr Campbell and our parent volunteers. We can’t wait to restart the programme.

A very productive morning making cheese rolls for tomorrow night’s Matariki celebration. A massive thank you to these amazing girls for their help! We will have cheese rolls, sausage/ meat Pattie in bread, hot chocolate and hot Barkers syrup to serve ☕️ We look forward to seeing you all ☺️
