Here are some of the photos from yesterday's Colour Run! What an incredible day it was!
A huge thank you to the Taranaki Dio student leaders who came out to shower our tamariki in colour. You all did such an amazing job, and the smiles and laughter said it all! The tamariki absolutely loved it, and it quickly became clear that no one was safe from you girls! We will definitely get you back next year, you all were the best hype team around the course!
Our tamariki completed around four laps of the course, with some superstars even managing an impressive eight laps! It was also fantastic to see parents and siblings joining in the fun and making it a true community event.
This is what Matariki celebrations at Kaponga Primary are all about, coming together, having fun, creating memories, and celebrating our amazing school whānau.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a colourful success! šŸ’™šŸ’›ā¤ļøšŸ’š

Matariki Whānau Day 2026
What an incredible day celebrating Puanga together with our amazing whānau!
Our tamariki and their whānau enjoyed a range of fun activities throughout the day, including gumboot throw, pickle ball, four square, a Matariki quiz, star cluster guessing sheets, and so much more. It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved, having fun, and spending quality time together.
One of the most meaningful parts of the day was our Gratitude & Remembrance Tree, where whānau took time to reflect and write down the names of loved ones, treasured pets, and other special people and memories they wanted to honour during Matariki. It was a beautiful reminder of what this special time of year is all about, remembering those who have gone before us, celebrating the present, and looking forward to the future.
We were blown away by the turnout! It was fantastic to see so many whānau come along, connecting, laughing, and making memories together.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to our shared kai. We truly had an abundance of delicious food and it was so special to see everyone bringing dishes they love to share with their whānau, and there was plenty left over for everyone to enjoy and take home.
To finish off an already amazing day, we had our Colour Run. Photos are coming soon.
Ngā mihi nui to everyone who came along and helped make our Puanga Whānau Day such a memorable celebration. Have a wonderful holidays everyone šŸ–¤.

This afternoon Mahuri and Kakano joined together to make Matariki star sun catches for their classrooms windows. They went in pairs and worked together to come up with their artwork. They are going to look super once they are up and the sun shines through them 🌟

What a fantastic way to celebrate the end of a term of reading!

This term, both Mahuri and Rakau classes have been enjoying chapter books together as whole classes. After finishing their books, they spent today relaxing and watching the movie versions – because every great book deserves a movie day!
Of course, you can't have a movie without snacks! Our tamariki counted up their KPS money and had the opportunity to purchase delicious ice cream sundaes with their favourite toppings. Kakano also enjoyed some yummy s'more doughnuts!

To top it all off, everyone came to school dressed in their cosy PJs, making it the perfect way to celebrate all of their hard work and love of reading.

A huge thank you to our wonderful tamariki and whānau for also supporting our local food bank by bringing along canned food for our local food bank!

Have a lovely weekend!
