Today is the equinox, the official start of astronomical spring, so we're exploring images of Spring Grove from Tasman Heritage.

First up is a photo of Spring Grove School pupils, taken in 1919. Next up, we have a photo taken at the school's centennial in 1942. This photo shows some of the pupils who attended the school in 1920-1929, I wonder if any of the pupils are in both photos.

Next, we have some of the members of the Spring Grove and Wai-iti Church of Christ, taken at a joint Picnic in 1910.

And the last photo shows a crowd, including a band, at the Spring Grove School Gala in 1954.

Friday 18 September marks International Equal Pay Day, a day that recognises the ongoing global effort to achieve equal pay for work of equal value and advance gender equality. To mark this occasion, we’re exploring photographs from the Tasman Heritage website, highlighting women working on local farms and orchards.

We have three women stand holding containers of the fruit they have picked at E. E. Christian's farm, Rakau in 1931. The woman on the left is Gertie Sutton.
Doss Osbourn and Susie Lorimer can be seen grading pears at P. C. Hurst's orchard, 1966.
There are women tying to***co in Riwaka in 1956, and lastly, Jill and Anne Inglis, Fay James, Marie Foot (with Grace Williams just out of shot), hoeing to***co at Inglis' in 1954.
