It’s Worldwide Knit in Public Day on Saturday 13 June 2026, so we’re sharing two wonderful photos from the Tasman Heritage collection featuring people knitting. One is ‘Aunt Bertha’, a lovely image from the Waimea South Collection, and the other shows a woman knitting as part of a larger photograph of ‘ladies camping at Riwaka’.
You can view these photos, along with many more, on the Tasman Heritage website.

If you’d like to join in, bring your knitting project along and knit in public with us on Saturday from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm at Richmond Library or Motueka Library Te Noninga Kumu.

Tasman District Libraries 17th annual Primary Schools Book Quiz
Held at the Rec Park, the quiz brought together Year 5 and 6 students from schools across Golden Bay, competing in teams of four.
The event tested not only the students’ knowledge of books, but also their creativity, with strong competition for both Best Dressed Team and Best Dressed Individual.
Motupipi School’s team, “The Brainy Book Worms,” claimed first place, with another Motupipi team taking second. Third place was shared by teams from Motupipi and Tākaka Primary School.
We are proud of everyone that entered the quiz you all looked amazing and gave it your all, we can't wait for Richmond and Motueka's turn!
