As National Volunteer Week wraps up, it’s another chance to reflect on the massive contribution volunteers make every single day. We're reminded that volunteering isn't measured in spare time, but in generosity, commitment, and community spirit.

Volunteers play vital roles – as emergency responders, coaches, caregivers, community builders, environmental champions, and more. So to all volunteers across Aotearoa New Zealand, thank you!

Last weekend, a crew of Springfield Fire Brigade and Sheffield Volunteer Fire Brigade firefighters took part in the Road Crash Rescue Challenge for the first time in both brigades’ history. A huge effort from the team who came together at short notice and gave it their all!

Simulated rescues like these are a valuable chance to build skills, improve teamwork, and prepare for real-life emergencies. Big thanks to the Canterbury Provincial Fire Brigades Association (CPFBA) for organising this event and to the Rolleston Volunteer Fire Brigade for hosting the after-match 👏🏻

🚨 CAR DONATIONS NEEDED 🚨

The Springfield Fire Brigade has signed up to this year’s Road Crash Rescue Challenge, but we need your help for this event to go ahead! If you have a car that can be donated, please give the team at Anytime Towing a call 🙏🏻

Motor vehicle crashes make up the majority of our call outs, so this competition is a great opportunity for our crew to practice their rescue and medical response skills 🚒
