๐ข Understanding STAR Attendance Reporting
Our school is committed to supporting every student to attend school regularly and succeed in their learning. As part of the Governmentโs STAR attendance initiative, schools are required to closely monitor and report student attendance patterns.
What does this mean for whฤnau?
โ
Schools must record attendance daily
โ
Parents/caregivers will be informed when attendance becomes a concern
โ
We are obligated to communicate with whฤnau about unexplained absences and ongoing attendance issues
โ
We are also required to inform whฤnau when absence thresholds of 5, 10, and 15 days are reached, regardless of whether the absence has been reported to the school and is considered justified
โ
Regular attendance helps students build confidence, maintain friendships, and achieve academically
Attendance is now nationally monitored, and schools are expected to work in partnership with whฤnau to improve attendance outcomes for all students.
If your child is going to be absent, please continue to notify the school as early as possible. We understand that illness and unexpected situations happen, and we are here to support you where needed.
Thank you for working alongside us to ensure every child has the best opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive at school every day. ๐
