Grade 1 Learners Learn Safety Through โYell and Tellโ Puppet Show
Grade 1 learners actively participated in an engaging and meaningful demonstration teaching conducted by Alelie T. Nerveza, Grade 1 teacher, as she integrated the โYell and Tellโ Program through a puppet show entitled โTrouble at the Playground" held on June 9.
The activity aimed to teach young learners important safety steps in a child-friendly and interactive way. Through the use of puppets, storytelling, and guided discussion, learners were introduced to the four essential steps that can help them safeguard themselves and others during difficult or dangerous situations.
The puppet show presented a scenario at the playground where children needed to recognize a possible unsafe situation and respond properly. As the story unfolded, Teacher Alelie guided the learners in understanding the four steps of the Yell and Tell Program: I See It, I Feel It, I Yell It, and I Tell It.
The first step, โI See It,โ teaches learners to be aware of their surroundings and recognize a difficult or unsafe situation. The second step, โI Feel It,โ helps children acknowledge feelings of fear, worry, or anxiety when something does not seem right. The third step, โI Yell It,โ reminds learners to be alert and brave enough to shout for help when needed. Finally, โI Tell Itโ encourages children to report what they have seen or experienced to a trusted adult.
Meanwhile, Armi Victoria A. Fiangaan, Education Program Supervisor (EPS) in English, Jeannette T. Lacana, School Head, Claire C. Poyongan, Master Teacher III, and Teresita M. Baltazar, Master Teacher I, observed and provided positive feedback to the teacher.
