๐Ÿšจ โš ๏ธ HGEES puts disaster readiness into actionโ›‘๏ธ๐Ÿฆบ

September 24, 2026 โ€“ Holy Ghost Extension Elementary School (HGEES) put disaster readiness into action as learners and school personnel took part in the quarterly Earthquake and Fire Drills today. The drills provided learners with an opportunity to practice essential emergency response procedures, from recognizing evacuation signals and moving to designated assembly areas to observing proper safety protocols during simulated earthquake and fire emergencies. Under the guidance of school personnel, learners responded calmly and orderly, demonstrating their growing awareness of the importance of preparedness and prompt response.

Adding strength to the schoolโ€™s disaster preparedness efforts, the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (BDRRM) Team of Holy Ghost Extension, University of the Cordilleras (UC) interns, and School Parents and Teachers Association (SPTA) Officers were in full force to assist during the activity. Their active participation helped facilitate the safe and orderly movement of learners and strengthened the spirit of cooperation among the school, community, and its partners.
More than a routine exercise, the drills served as a reminder that preparedness begins with practice and becomes stronger through collective action. With the continued commitment and support of its stakeholders, HGEES remains dedicated to nurturing a school community that is alert, and ready to respond when emergencies arise.

โœจ๐Ÿซ3rd Year Implementation of the Adopt-a-School Program Promotes Healthy Smiles at Holy Ghost Extension Elementary School ๐Ÿฆท๐Ÿชฅ

Holy Ghost Extension Elementary School successfully conducted the 3rd Year Implementation of the Adopt-a-School Program, highlighting the continuing commitment of its partners to support both the education and well-being of learners.

One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of photographs showcasing the different years of the program's implementation. The photo presentation allowed learners, teachers, and guests to reflect on the positive impact and milestones achieved through the Adopt-a-School Program over the years.

The activity also featured an oral health education session where learners were taught the importance of maintaining good dental hygiene. They were encouraged to brush their teeth twice a day and reminded of the valuable lesson, "Do not rush in brushing," emphasizing the importance of brushing properly and thoroughly. A live demonstration on the correct toothbrushing technique helped learners better understand how to care for their teeth.

To further support the learners' oral health, toothbrushes and toothpaste were distributed, followed by a fluoride application for each learner to help strengthen teeth and prevent cavities.

Holy Ghost Extension Elementary School extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Philippine Dental Association, Inc. - Baguio City Chapter for its invaluable support and dedication to promoting oral health among learners. Special thanks are also extended to Dr. Jun Fernandez, Dr. Sheila E. Vicente, Dr. Rowena Pascua and to SDO Baguio Dental Unit for sharing their expertise, leading the oral health activities, and ensuring the success of the program.

Through strengthened partnerships and community involvement, the Adopt-a-School Program continues to make a lasting impact by fostering healthier habits, brighter smiles, and a better learning environment for every learner.

Emergencies may disrupt classrooms, but they should never stop a childโ€™s opportunity to learn. Through the Department of Education (DepEd) Learning Continuity Framework (DepEd Order No. 014, s. 2026), schools respond with a 4-Level Color System that places safety and well-being at the center of every learning decision:

๐ŸŸข HAYO (Continue) > Learning proceeds as normal when conditions are safe.
๐ŸŸก HINAY (Ease-in) > Learning slows down and becomes more flexible during minor to moderate disruptions.
๐ŸŸ  HINGA (Check-in) > Academic demands are reduced to prioritize mental health, well-being, and emotional support.
๐Ÿ”ด HINTO (Stop) > Learning is paused during severe emergencies to protect lives and ensure everyoneโ€™s safety.

Because in DepEd, safety comes first, well-being always matters, and learning must continue whenever it is safe to do so.
