Forecast rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas. Moreover, impacts in some areas may be worsened by significant antecedent rainfall.

The public disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measure to protect life and property. PAGASA Regional Services Divisions may issue Heavy Rainfall Warnings/Thunderstorms Advisories, and other severe weather information specific to their areas of responsibility as appropriate.

Unless significant changes occur, the next Weather Advisory will be issued at 11:00 AM today.

𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: The key difference between a 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐲 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 and a 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐲 lies in their forecast period, coverage areas, and accuracy. A 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐲 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 provides forecasts for the next three hours and applies up to the municipal level. It is more precise as it utilizes Doppler radar technology to track real-time rainfall intensity, making it highly effective for immediate decision-making in flood-prone areas. A 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐲, on the other hand, covers a 24-hour period but is issued only at the provincial level. It provides a broader outlook on potential weather disturbances but lacks the short-term accuracy of 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐲 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬. For class suspensions or other official decisions, please refer to 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐲 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 issued by the respective PAGASA Regional Services Divisions.

𝗕𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗼 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗱𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗼𝗻

BAGUIO CITY — The Baguio City Health Services Office (CHSO) remains on high alert and fully operational as it continues to safeguard the health and safety of residents affected by heavy rainfall brought by Tropical Depression "Maymay" and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat). As of August 10, 2026, the city is bracing for rainfall outlooks of 100–200mm.

Despite these challenging conditions, the CHSO, led by City Health Officer Dr. Celia Flor Brillantes, has maintained the continuity of essential health services for the public's health and protection.

𝗗𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲
Following the landslide incident at Guisad Surong, HSO teams have been working tirelessly on the ground to support affected residents. As of 12:00 noon, 147 families comprising 647 individuals have received medical and public health support, with 42 families currently sheltered in evacuation centers.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗦𝗢'𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝘀:
- Medical Consultations and Care: The 16 District Health Centers (DHCs) within the city have been actively providing first aid, routine consultations, and treatment to residents in need especially in evacuation centers and affected residents.

- Nutrition and Hygiene Support: Nutrition assessments and hygiene kits are being delivered directly to evacuation centers to safeguard the health of displaced families.

- Psychosocial Support: Recognizing that disasters take a toll beyond physical health, CHSO teams are providing psychosocial first aid and stress debriefing to affected families, particularly children and the elderly, to help them cope with the trauma of displacement and loss.

- Its Health Emergency Management Division (HEMD) has been monitoring and responding to health emergencies, such as the ongoing rescue and retrieval operation at Guisad, together with the City Disaster Risk Reduction Office (CDRRMO), Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Public Order and Safety Division (POSD), City Social Welfare Office (CSWDO), Barangay Officials, 911 on Call, Philippine Red Cross, and volunteers joining the emergency response.

𝗔 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀
City Health Officer Dr. Brillantes urges all residents, especially those in landslide-prone and low-lying areas, to remain vigilant and prioritize their safety. The public is encouraged to:

- Heed advisories from local officials and evacuate promptly when instructed.
Visit the nearest District Health Center or evacuation center for medical assistance, hygiene kits, or psychosocial support;

- Check on elderly neighbors, persons with disabilities, and children, who may need extra assistance during this time;

- Report any health concerns, injuries, or landslide risks by calling 911 immediately

- Practice basic hygiene and safe water practices to prevent the spread of waterborne illnesses during the flooding.

- Keep warm from the cold and rainy weather by staying home and avoid unnecessary trips outside when classes and/or work is suspended

The CHSO reassures the public that it will continue monitoring the situation closely and will provide updates as conditions develop.

Meanwhile, light to moderate to at times heavy rains are expected over Apayao, Mountain Province (Natonin, Paracelis), Ifugao (Alfonso Lista, Aguinaldo), and Kalinga (Lubuagan, Pinukpuk, Rizal, City of Tabuk, Tanudan), within the next 2 to 3 hours.

The above conditions are being experienced in Mountain Province (Barlig, Bauko, Besao, Bontoc, Sadanga, Sagada, Tadian, Sabangan), Ifugao (Banaue, Hungduan, Kiangan, Lagawe, Lamut, Mayoyao, Hingyon, Asipulo), Abra, and Kalinga (Balbalan, Tinglayan, Pasil), which may persist within 2 to 3 hours and may affect nearby areas.

The public and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices concerned are advised to MONITOR the weather condition and watch for the next warning to be issued at 02:00 AM Tomorrow.

All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards. Residents along mountain slope are advised for possible landslides mudslides, rockslides and flash flood.

The Newborn Screening Center–Central Luzon recognized Irisan District Health Center (DHC) for maintaining quality newborn screening services after achieving an unsatisfactory sample rate of less than 0.5% in 2025.

Newborn screening is a set of blood, hearing, and heart tests performed on newborns, usually within one to two days after birth, to detect serious but treatable health conditions before symptoms appear. Through early detection, babies can receive timely treatment, helping prevent lifelong disabilities, developmental delays, or even death.

The recognition was announced by the Newborn Screening Center–Central Luzon on July 15, 2026. Other awardees in Baguio City include Baguio Medical Center and Notre Dame de Chartres Hospital.

The Baguio City Health Services Office (BCHSO), led by Dr. Celia Flor Brillantes, along with health workers from the different District Health Centers, checked on residents affected by the typhoon in various evacuation centers. All evacuees received an immediate health assessment, especially in areas affected by soil erosion.

The CHSO along with its Health Emergency Management Division (HEMD) is in full alert and on standby during disasters such as typhoons.

Residents are advised to call 911 for any health emergencies or go to the nearest hospital.
