The Bureau of Plant Industry โ€“ Baguio National Crop Research, Development and Production Support Center (BPI-BNCRDPSC), through the High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP), successfully concluded the first batch (Januaryโ€“June 2026) of its Season-Long Training Program on Smart Greenhouse Cultivation with a Closing Program held on July 2, 2026, at the Smart Greenhouse, BPI Compound, Guisad, Baguio City.

Over the course of six months, thirteen (13) farmer trainees from various farmer organizations actively participated in intensive hands-on learning focused on greenhouse operations, crop establishment, irrigation and nutrient management, pruning, trellising, integrated pest and disease management, harvesting, and postharvest handling of cherry and beef tomatoes. Guided by BPI technical personnel, the participants developed valuable knowledge and practical skills in smart greenhouse production under protected cultivation.

The closing program showcased the accomplishments and production performance of the Smart Greenhouse during the training period, provided an opportunity for participants to share their experiences and insights, and recognized their dedication through the awarding of Certificates of Completion.

As the first batch of trainees for CY 2026 (Januaryโ€“June) successfully completed the program, BPI-BNCRDPSC looks forward to producing more empowered and technology-driven farmers through succeeding batches of the Season-Long Training Program.

Empowering Farmers Through Knowledge and Partnership!

Last June 30, 2026, the Bureau of Plant Industry โ€“ Baguio National Crop Research, Development, and Production Support Center (BPI-BNCRDPSC) successfully conducted an Information Caravan cm Training on Cacao Production at the Bauko Municipal Hall, Bauko, Mountain Province, bringing together around 60 farmers, agricultural stakeholders, and partner agencies.

The activity introduced the various programs and services of BPI-BNCRDPSC while equipping participants with essential knowledge on cacao farm establishment, cultural management practices, and the identification and management of common cacao pests and diseases.

The interactive discussions and open forum provided a valuable opportunity for farmers to share their concerns, ask questions, and strengthen collaboration with the Municipal Agriculture Office and BPI-BNCRDPSC. Through activities like this, we continue to promote sustainable agriculture, improve farmers' capacities, and build stronger partnerships for the development of the agricultural sector.

Together, let us cultivate knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and grow a more resilient agricultural future!
