Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board 1 consults Ilocos Sur stakeholders on minimum wage determination

Participatory and Anticipatory

The RTWPB 1 consulted on tourism-related business, wholesale, retail and manufacturing industries concerns on possible increase in the minimum wage in Ilocos Sur on 3 September 2026 at the Provincial Farmers Livelihood Development Center in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.

The consultation gathered stakeholder inputs and reviewed socioeconomic data, commodity price trends from July 2025 to July 2026, and minimum wage compliance reports to guide minimum wage determination for private-sector workers.

Governor Jerry Singson, represented by PESO Manager Mary Madelaine Salvador, joined DOLE Region 1 Regional Director Honorina Dian-Baga- Chairperson of the RTWPB 1, DTI Regional Director Merlie Membrere- Vice Chairman RTWPB 1 and Labor representative Catherine Pangan, reaffirming PGIS support for fair labor standards and sustainable business growth.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) held “SLPA! Tara, Live Sell Na! DSWD SLP x TikTok Shop Unlad Lokal” on 3 September 2026 at the Vigan Convention Center, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.

Governor Jerry Singson expressed the provincial government’s support for livelihood programs that help empower local entrepreneurs.

Vice Governor Ryan Singson joined the activity with PSWD Officer Kathleen Balbuena, SBM Ignacio Tadeo, DSWD Regional Director Marie Angela Gopalan, and TikTok Shop Philippines Public Policy Manager Mike Mendoza.

PGIS leads swift aid for Brgy. Pantoc families hit by sea surge

Resiliency Amid Adversities

The provincial government conducted an immediate on-site assessment on 3 September 2026 in Barangay Pantoc, Narvacan, following a coastal sea surge that washed away two homes and disrupted local households.

To address the residents' urgent needs and support their recovery, a prompt distribution of hot meals and essential house-repair materials to the affected families were carried out.

Joining Governor Jerry Singson in the relief operations were Narvacan Mayor Edna Cabalo Sanidad, PDRRM Officer Rhon Arquelada, OIC Provincial Engineer Leonard Pascua, and PSWD Officer Kathleen Balbuena.
