On 19 May 2026, Coast Guard Weapons, Communications, Electronics and Information System Command (CGWCEISC) personnel, led by Rear Admiral Roben N De Guzman PCG, Deputy Commander, CGWCEISC, attended the Solar and Storage Live Philippines 2026 at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.
Solar & Storage Live Philippines is the country's largest clean energy event, which showcases innovative, leading solutions for solar projects, large-scale utility projects, residential projects, small-scale community-based projects and the technologies that support them. Aside from the focus on maximizing the power output of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, technologies on the efficiency of various Energy Storage Systems (ESS) were also exhibited.
Together with Lieutenant Junior Grade Philip Neri B Guiriba PCG, Lieutenant Junior Grade Neil Karlo Z Olegario PCG, and Seaman 2nd Class Daniel A Botin PCG, Rear Admiral De Guzman visited the expo to seek alternative energy solutions for long-term power disruptions that jeopardize our critical communications, electronics, and information infrastructures. Through discussion with exhibitors, it was found important to find Tier 1 solar panel providers, which is their guaranteed rating for financial security and warranty backing to customers who will rely on them on a long-term basis. It was also discussed that Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) are already being practiced by power buyers with their surrounding residences and establishments. These agreements allow the use of roofs or sun-exposed lands for increased solar energy sourcing in exchange for discounted rates on generated electricity.
Several simultaneous presentations took place around the hall. One was titled โSolar + Storage as the new baseload: Powering the Philippinesโ next wave of data centres.โ It mentioned the feasibility of fully solar-powered data centers in other countries.
Other solutions and applications were also showcased, such as the PV-powered UV water disinfection system for providing safe, potable water in off-grid locations and the diorama of a green community utilizing renewable energy.
