The Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) is again warning the public against sophisticated syndicates that are luring Filipinos with promises of jobs abroad, only to forcibly conscript them into foreign military service.

Anti-trafficking authorities released the joint advisory following an emergency case conference triggered by a specific complaint of Filipinos being trafficked under false pretenses.

According to reports from the 1343 Actionline, the IACATโ€™s primary human trafficking hotline, victims were originally recruited for work, and upon arrival at their undisclosed foreign destinations, their employment contracts were substituted, and they were compelled to serve in foreign militaries.

โ€œPrivacy? Meron pa ba ako niyan sa Internet?โ€

Join us in the webinar, โ€œProtecting Online Privacy and the Right to be Forgotten in the Digital Age,โ€ happening on 7 April 2026 (Tuesday), 1:00 to 4:00 PM via Facebook Live.

As digital technologies continue to shape how we live, communicate, and share online, personal data can easily be collected, shared, and remain accessible without an individualโ€™s full consent. In this context, privacy and the right to be forgotten are essential in upholding dignity in online spaces.

This webinar will bring together experts and advocates to discuss:
โœ”๏ธ Existing legal and policy frameworks in the Philippines related to data protection and digital rights
โœ”๏ธ An overview of the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and the Stateโ€™s obligation to protect personal data
โœ”๏ธ An in-depth understanding of the meaning and scope of the right to be forgotten
โœ”๏ธ Emerging issues, challenges, and opportunities in protecting individualsโ€™ online privacy

For inquiries, please contact the CHR Center for Social Justice and Humanitarian Protection at [email protected].

Letโ€™s work together to uphold safe, inclusive, and rights-respecting digital spaces for all.

See you online! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›
