POTOTAN, Iloilo (Aspiration) -Success is not measured solely by medals and records but by the determination, discipline, and perseverance behind every achievement.
I am Althea Grace D. Prosperoso, 13 years old, a monitored child beneficiary of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) . My journey shows how dedication and hard work can transform opportunities into remarkable accomplishments.
I hail from Barangay Naslo, Pototan, Iloilo, and I have always strives to excel both as a student and as an athlete. Despite the challenges of limited family resources, I remained committed to pursuing my dreams through education and sports. My determination became evident through years of disciplined training, unwavering focus, and a strong desire to represent my school and community with pride.
My greatest achievement came during the Palarong Pambansa in Agusan del Sur last May 2026, where I competed in the Girls’ Discus Throw event. Facing the country’s best young athletes, I displayed skill, confidence, and composure. With a powerful throw measuring 37.15 meters, I not only claimed the championship but also established a new Palarong Pambansa record, making me a record breaker in one of the country’s most prestigious school sporting events.
That moment became a source of immense pride for the Municipality of Pototan. Through my achievement, I brought national recognition to my hometown, proving that Pototan is home to young athletes capable of excelling on the country’s biggest stage. My victory inspired not only aspiring athletes but also the entire community, strengthening local pride and encouraging more young people to pursue excellence in sports.
Behind my performance were countless hours of training, sacrifices, and perseverance. My success brought pride to my family, coaches, school, municipality, province, and Region VI, proving that excellence knows no socioeconomic boundaries.
Beyond medals and accolades, I strive to be a role model for fellow learners and other children under the 4Ps. I want to inspire young people to remain focused on their education while pursuing their talents with determination and discipline. My achievements show that with commitment, resilience, and the support of family and community, dreams can become reality.
The support provided through the 4Ps has helped my household prioritize my education and well-being, enabling me to continue developing my potential while fulfilling my responsibilities as a student. With the guidance of my mother, teachers, coaches, and the values reinforced by the program, I have grown into a disciplined, confident, and goal oriented young athlete.
Building on my record-breaking achievement, I continue to pursue excellence with the same determination and discipline that brought me national recognition. I am currently enrolled in Grade 7 at Palanguia National High School, undergoing intensive training and preparing for the Batang Pinoy National Championships this December 2026. I hope to once again represent my school, the Municipality of Pototan, the Province of Iloilo, and Region VI with pride.
My unwavering commitment to improving my skills reflects my dedication to achieving greater milestones while serving as an inspiration to fellow learners and other young beneficiaries of the 4Ps.
With the continued support of my family, coaches, school, and the program, I remain focused on reaching new heights in athletics while pursuing my education and inspiring others to believe that perseverance and hard work can turn dreams into reality.(Submitted by Pototan MOO, Iloilo POO)
