The Municipality of Sikatuna successfully conducted the 2nd Quarter Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (LDRRMC) Meeting, presided over by the Council Chairman, Hon. Justiniana L. Ellorimo, together with the DRRM Officer, Julius M. Buhion, and the active participation of the council members.

The meeting focused on strengthening disaster preparedness, coordination, and resilience initiatives to ensure the safety and welfare of the community. Through collaboration and commitment, the municipality continues to enhance its disaster risk reduction and management efforts for a safer and more resilient Sikatuna.

Moderate to Heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds are expected over (Maribojoc, Cortes, Balilihan, Batuan, Sikatuna, Loboc, Loay, Lila, Dimiao, Valencia, Corella, TagbilaranCity, Baclayon, Alburquerque), (Tuburan), (SanIsidro, Calubian, Carigara, Tunga), (Rizal, Bataraza and Brooke'sPoint) within the next 1 to 2 hours.

The above conditions are being experienced in (Loon, Calape, Antequera, Tubigon, Clarin, SanIsidro, Catigbian, Bilar, Sevilla, Carmen), (Balamban, Asturias), (Barugo), (Zumarraga), (PuertoPrincesaCity, Narra and SofronioEspanola) which may persist within 1 to 2 hours and may affect nearby areas.

All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides. Keep monitoring for updates.

The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), convened members of the Bohol Association of Local DRRM Officers (BALDRRMO) Inc. for its Mid-Year Assessment on May 18–19, 2026, at Panglao Vista Suites.

The activity gathered Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officers from various local government units across the province to assess ongoing DRRM initiatives, strengthen coordination, and discuss priority programs for the remainder of the year.

Key discussions focused on El Niño preparedness measures, the resumption of the 2026 Gawad Kalasag Awards, capacity enhancement trainings, and upcoming disaster risk reduction and management activities.

The assessment reaffirmed the province’s commitment to proactive disaster preparedness, institutional strengthening, and coordinated action among LGUs in ensuring the safety and resilience of Boholano communities.

Anchored with PGBh's Strategic Governance Roadmap under the leadership of Gov. Aris Aumentado, Bohol continues to promote sustainable and resilient governance through strengthened environmental protection, climate adaptation, and disaster preparedness initiatives across the Bohol Island Geopark.

Day 1 | BDRRM Plan Formulation (Batch 2)

The first day of the two-day Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (BDRRM) Plan Formulation has successfully commenced at Green AA Garden Resort, Abucay Norte, Sikatuna.

Participating barangays for Batch 2 include Cambuac Sur, Can-agong, Libjo, Poblacion 1, and Poblacion 2, coming together to strengthen their capacities in disaster preparedness, mitigation, and response.

This activity is initiated by the Municipal DRRM Office in partnership with the Soil and Water Conservation Foundation, Inc., aimed at developing responsive, inclusive, and risk-informed barangay DRRM plans.

Barangay DRRM Plan Formulation (April 21–22, 2026)

The two-day Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (BDRRM) Plan Formulation was successfully conducted for Barangays Abucay Norte, Abucay Sur, Badiang, Bahaybahay, and Cambuac Norte. This activity strengthened the capacity of our barangays in crafting responsive, inclusive, and risk-informed DRRM plans.

Initiated by the Municipal DRRM Office under the leadership of DRRMO Chief Julius Buhion, in partnership with the Soil and Water Conservation Foundation, Inc., this collaborative effort highlights our shared commitment to building safer, more resilient communities.

DOST-PAGASA has officially raised its ENSO Alert and Warning System to El Niño Alert, following the high likelihood of its development in the coming months and possible persistence into early 2027. This may bring drier-than-usual conditions, including dry spells and droughts in parts of the country.

However, above-normal rainfall may still be experienced over the western sections during the Habagat season.

The Municipality of Sikatuna proudly celebrates the achievement of its Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO–Sikatuna), which was honored during the LDRRMCO Regional Assessment.

The municipality earned a Plaque of Recognition in acknowledgment of its strong participation and sustained commitment to advancing local disaster risk reduction and management programs.

The award was officially received in Cebu City by the LDRRMO Julius M. Buhion together with the Honorable Mayor Justiniana Ellorimo during the presentation ceremony.

This distinction highlights the unified efforts of the local government, emergency responders, partner institutions, and the community in fostering preparedness, resilience, and responsive governance.

The Municipality of Sikatuna commends the MDRRMO team for their unwavering dedication to protecting lives, preserving property, and strengthening a culture of disaster awareness and readiness.
