On October 16, 2026, the Municipality of Tangalan successfully conducted a 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐗-𝐫𝐚𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 to strengthen tuberculosis (TB) prevention, early detection, and control efforts in the municipality.

A total of 𝟐𝟏𝟎 individuals availed themselves of the 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐗-𝐫𝐚𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬, complemented by sputum collection as part of the screening initiative. This activity supports the implementation of Active Case Finding (ACF), a key strategy in identifying presumptive TB cases, facilitating timely diagnosis, and ensuring appropriate referral and management.

The activity was spearheaded by the Tangalan Primary Care Facility, headed by Dr. Beancy Rose A. Yeban, Municipal Health Officer, in coordination with our TB-DOTS Nurse and Program Coordinator, Mrs. Lourdes Cielo R. Tabang, whose dedication and commitment contribute to the effective implementation of the municipality’s TB prevention and control initiatives.

We gratefully recognize the support of our Municipal Mayor 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲 𝗧. 𝗙𝘂𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀 for his continued support and commitment to advancing accessible and responsive healthcare services for Tangalanons. The Municipality of Tangalan, through the Tangalan Primary Care Facility, successfully conducted the Annual Municipal Buntis Congress with the theme, “𝙀𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙈𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙨, 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝𝙮 𝘽𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙚𝙨: 𝙆𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙡𝙚𝙙𝙜𝙚 𝙄𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙚” which emphasizes that knowledge empowers mothers to make informed decisions, practice proper prenatal care, ensure safe deliveries, and provide the best possible care for their babies.

This meaningful activity was made possible through the full support of our Municipal Mayor, 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀, who continues to prioritize the health and well-being of every community in the Municipality of Tangalan especially in promoting maternal health, safe pregnancy, and healthy beginnings for every child. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to 𝗠𝗿. 𝗟𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗼 𝗣. 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗱 𝗝𝗿., Head of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) and Municipal GAD Focal Person, for his assistance in making this activity successful, as well as for providing support through the Gender and Development (GAD) Program.

The activity was spearheaded by the Tangalan Primary Care Facility, headed by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗯𝗮𝗻, Municipal Health Officer, together with 𝗗𝗿. 𝗟𝗲𝗿𝗮 𝗚𝗮𝘆 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗮𝘆, DOH-DTTB, and our Program Coordinator, 𝗠𝗿𝘀. 𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮 𝗥. 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗼, 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗜𝗜.

The Buntis Congress Activity featured a series of informative lectures on essential maternal and child health topics:

Beyond the lectures, the activity encouraged active participation and meaningful interaction among attendees. Special attention was given to our indigent pregnant women, particularly teenage mothers and first-time mothers, providing them with valuable knowledge about the importance of prenatal check-ups, healthy and safe pregnancy, facility-based deliveries, and the benefits of family planning.
The program concluded with the distribution of Buntis Kits, which will help mothers prepare their essential items for labor and delivery as part of their 𝘿𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙂𝙤 𝘽𝙖𝙜.

Through this initiative, we continue to strengthen maternal health awareness and empower every mother with the knowledge, confidence, and resources she needs for a safe pregnancy and a healthy baby. Because every mother deserves proper care, and every baby deserves a healthy start in life 💗

The recognition was conferred during the Regional Sandugo and Blood Alliance Conference held on October 9, 2026, at Punta Villa Resort.

On September 29, 2026, the LGU Tangalan and Tangalan Primary Care Facility, through its Nutrition Program, conducted a Livelihood Activity for selected parents and caregivers of children identified as malnourished, in collaboration with our dedicated Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs).

The activity featured hands-on learning in the preparation of Siomai, Skinless Longganisa, and Tocino, providing participants with practical knowledge and skills that may serve as a potential source of additional income.

More than simply teaching food preparation, this initiative aims to empower families with livelihood skills that can potentially be developed into a small home-based business. By creating opportunities to generate additional income, parents and caregivers may be better equipped to provide nutritious food and help sustain the nutritional needs of their children.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to our Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinator, 𝗠𝗦. 𝗠𝗔. 𝗘𝗡𝗔𝗥𝗬 𝗧. 𝗖𝗨𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗢, for spearheading this activity, and to our DOH Nutritionist, 𝗠𝗥𝗦. 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗔 𝗦𝗢𝗟𝗘𝗗𝗔𝗗 𝗙𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗧𝗘, for her valuable support, guidance, and commitment to strengthening our nutrition interventions.

Today’s Mobile Bloodletting Activity held at the Tangalan Sports and Cultural Center was successfully conducted, with a total of 𝟳𝟮 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝘀 who generously shared their blood to help save lives.

This community-based initiative aims to promote voluntary blood donation, help maintain an adequate and safe blood supply, and ultimately help save lives.

Individuals who meet the following general requirements may be eligible to donate:

• 18–65 years old
• In good health and feeling well on the day of donation
• At least 50 kg in weight
• Passed the required screening and medical assessment

• Any valid government-issued ID, such as PhilSys/National ID, PhilHealth ID, or Voter’s ID
• Blood Donation Card for returning donors, if available

The Municipality of Tangalan proudly receives a Plaque of Recognition for having a Progressing To***co Control Program from the Province of Aklan, in partnership with Transcending Institutions and Communities, Inc., during the recognition ceremony held on September 15, 2026, at the Aklan Training Center, Old Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan.

The Index for To***co Control Sustainability (ITCS) recognizes and assesses the strength and sustainability of local to***co-control efforts—including policies, leadership, implementation, resources, enforcement, and community participation.

The award was received by To***co Control Program Coordinator Mr. Aron Leumel L. Dela Cruz, RN, and Municipal Health Officer Dr. Beancy Rose A. Yeban, with the unwavering support of our health champions, Hon. Vice Mayor Gary T. Fuentes and Hon. Mayor Gene T. Fuentes.

This recognition is not only an award - it is a reminder of our shared responsibility to protect our community from the harmful effects of to***co and strengthen our journey toward a healthier and smoke-free Tangalan.
