128th Anniversary of National Flag Day Celebration from 28 May – 12 June 2026
The Veterans Federation of the Philippines – Cavite Province proudly participated in the meaningful celebration of the 128th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence, held at the Dambana ng Pambansang Watawat in the City of Imus, Cavite on May 28, 2026, at 8:00 in the morning, fostering the spirit of unity, patriotism, and nationalism among the participants.
The occasion commemorated the historic first unfurling of the Philippine National Flag during the Battle of Alapan in Imus, Cavite in 1898, symbolizing the victory of the Philippine Revolutionary Army against Spanish forces and paving the way for the nation’s freedom and independence.
Around forty (40) veterans and few surviving spouses from the 1st Cavite, 2nd Cavite, and 3rd Cavite Veterans Districts, together with their respective Post officers, attended the celebration with the officers of the Cavite Veterans Organization (CAVO), headed by Vet. Celso C. Voluntad, Regional Vice President for Region IV.
Personnel from VFP-CAVO and PVAO-FSO Cavite also participated in the activity. The Veterans Federation of the Philippines Headquarters was represented by Col. Roseller M. Muros, PAF (Ret.), and Ms. Jennifer Ting, Regional Assistant for Region IV, exemplifying dedication and continued commitment to the welfare of veterans.
The participating veterans, post presidents, and post officers demonstrated solidarity and patriotism as they joined fellow Filipinos in honoring the significance of National Flag Day and commemorating the courage, heroism, and sacrifices of Filipino patriots who fought for the country’s freedom.
A wreath-laying ceremony was conducted in honor of the occasion, attended by distinguished guests and officials who graced the celebration, including Hon. Francisco Gabriel D. Remulla, Governor of Cavite; Sen. Joseph Victor G. Ejercito, Senate of the Philippines; Congressman Adrian Jay C. Advincula, 3rd District of Cavite; Secretary Juanito Victor C. Remulla Jr., Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG); Chairman Regalado Trota Jose Jr., National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP); Hon. Alex L. Advincula, City Mayor of Imus; Vice Mayor Homer T. Saquilayan, City of Imus; Rev. Fr. Julius R. De Sagun, Ph.L.; and Dr. Janice T. Ilano, Administrator, City College of Imus.
The celebration concluded successfully through the collaborative efforts and active participation of various government agencies, veterans organizations, local officials, and patriotic citizens, all united in preserving the nation’s rich history and honoring the sacrifices and legacy of Filipino veterans and heroes.
