The versatile facilities of the Vila Real Municipal Theater allow it to present large-scale, high-quality, and diverse performances to the public, ensuring a rich cultural offering of recognized merit for the entire region. The complex, with its modern architecture and pleasant location on the edge of Corgo Park, consists of the Grand Auditorium (with a capacity of 500 seats), the Small Auditorium (145 seats), the Outdoor Auditorium (700 seats), the Café-Concert (with a terrace), the Exhibition Hall, the Gallery-Bar, and two rehearsal rooms, in addition to the technical areas. The Museum of Sound and Image is also housed in the same building.

As múltiplas valências do Teatro Municipal de Vila Real permitem-lhe apresentar ao público espectáculos de grande envergadura, qualidade e diversidade, assegurando para toda a região uma oferta cultural intensa e de reconhecido mérito. O complexo, com uma arquitectura moderna e uma agradável localização à margem do Parque do Corgo, é constituído pelo Grande Auditório (com capacidade para 500 lugares), o Pequeno Auditório (145 lugares), o Auditório Exterior (700 lugares), o Café-Concerto (com esplanada), a Sala de Exposições, a Galeria-Bar e duas salas de ensaios, para além das áreas técnicas. No mesmo edifício está ainda instalado o Museu do Som e da Imagem.

The S. Pedro em Fontes Lookout is located at the top of a hill, at an elevation of 657 meters, in a prime spot from which we can take in some of the most breathtaking panoramic views of the Douro Region. The view spans 360 degrees, allowing visitors to admire—without any obstructions in front—scenes of striking beauty that nature (and human hands) have crafted all the way to the distant ridges, stretching as far as the eye can see. The building is entirely made of concrete, with a black-painted base and the rest painted white. The Chapel of St. Peter is located on the same site. Inside, the highlight is a 17th-century polychrome wooden statue of St. Peter. The chapel and viewpoint are built on the summit of a cultivated hillock, set within a churchyard enclosed by a schist wall. The site has been identified as an ancient Roman fort where an “altar” dedicated to the Eastern goddess “Auge” was discovered.

O Miradouro de S. Pedro em Fontes situa-se no topo de elevação, a 657 metros de altitude, em local privilegiado de onde captamos panoramas dos mais deslumbrantes da Região do Douro. São 360 graus de amplitude, permitindo ao observador contemplar (sem qualquer obstáculo pela frente) quadros de impressionante beleza que a Natureza (e o homem) desenhou até às cumeadas distantes, a perder de vista. O edifício está todo cimentado, com o rodapé pintado de preto e o resto da pintura branca. No mesmo local encontra-se a capela de São Pedro. No seu interior, destaca-se a imagem de S. Pedro em madeira policroma do séc. XVII. A capela e miradouro estão construídos sobre um cume de um cabeço agricultado, inserido num adro limitado por muro de xisto. Identif**ado como um antigo castro romano onde foi encontrada uma “ara” dedicada à deusa oriental “auge”. Existem estudos feitos por arqueólogos e publicados.

The construction of Casa do Cabo embodies the symbolism of 18th-century courtly culture. References to the property’s owners indicate that the Sande e Castro family commissioned the building, undoubtedly with a taste and architectural and artistic style associated with Nicolau Nasoni. The grandeur and architectural scale of the building led to a local legend that it had as many doors and windows as there are days in the year.

A construção da Casa do Cabo representa a simbologia da cultura cortesã do século XVIII. As referências aos proprietários da obra, indicam ser a família Sande e Castro a sua encomendadora, certamente com gosto, estilo arquitetónico e artístico associado a Nicolau Nasoni. A imponência e escala arquitetónica do imóvel levaram a que f**asse na memória local a existência de tantas portas e janelas como o total de dias do ano.

The history of Lapa begins in 1493 with the discovery of an image of Our Lady beneath a rock, brought to that spot by monks fleeing from the Moorish general Al Mansor. The cave where the image was found contains a very narrow crevice through which, according to tradition, everyone can pass except those who have committed a grave sin. The legend took on national signif**ance, and before long, the first buildings began to appear on that site. A few years later, under the guidance of the Jesuits, construction began on the current church, which was completed in 1635 on the very spot where the young shepherdess Joana discovered the image of Our Lady.

A história da Lapa começa em 1493 com o aparecimento da imagem de Nossa Senhora debaixo de uma lapa, trazida para aquele local por religiosos que fugiam ao general mouro Al Mansor. A gruta onde a imagem foi descoberta possui uma pedra muito estreita por onde reza a tradição que todos passam, exceto quem tiver pecado grave. A lenda tomou proporções nacionais e, sem demoras, surgiram as primeiras construções naquele local. Alguns anos mais tarde, e já sob a orientação dos jesuítas, foi construída a atual Igreja, que f**aria concluída no ano de 1635, no exato local onde a Pastorinha Joana descobriu a imagem de Nossa Senhora.

The Castro de Palheiros is a Chalcolithic and Iron Age settlement in the municipality of Murça. This settlement was established during the Iron Age of the northeastern Iberian Peninsula, on a site that shows traces of an earlier occupation with Chalcolithic characteristics. The evolution of the Castro demonstrates the excellent conditions it provided for the survival of the human communities that chose to settle there over time. This occupation is also confirmed by the presence of elements attributable to use during the Late Bronze Age. The settlement features a complex defensive system consisting of two lines of walls built of loose stone and embankments, showing signs that, at some point during its use, the most vulnerable areas—in terms of defense—were reinforced with stone cladding due to the occasional absence of boulders and the high cliffs characteristic of the hilltop.

O Castro de Palheiros é um povoado Calcolítico e da Idade do Ferro, no concelho de Murça. Este povoado foi implantado durante a Idade do Ferro do Nordeste Peninsular, num local que apresenta vestígios de uma ocupação anterior de características calcolíticas. A evolução do Castro demonstra as condições de excelência que proporcionava à sobrevivência das comunidades humanas que o foram escolhendo ao longo dos tempos. Esta ocupação é confirmada, também pela presença de elementos atribuíveis a uma fruição no Bronze Final. O povoado apresenta um complexo sistema defensivo constituído por duas linhas de muralha levantadas em pedra solta e taludes, apresentando marcas de terem sido, em dado momento da sua utilização, revestidas de proteção pétrea nas áreas mais vulneráveis em termos defensivos, devido à inexistência pontual de penedos e das elevadas falésias características do cabeço.

The municipality of Mesão Frio is one of the oldest in the Douro region, having received its charter in February 1152 by order of King Afonso Henriques. It is located in the District of Vila Real, with the town center situated on a small plateau at an elevation of 380 meters, overlooking the Douro and Teixeira rivers.

The town of Mesão Frio lies at the foot of the Serra do Marão and faces the Serra das Meadas; it is bordered by the Douro River, as well as by its tributaries, the Teixeira and Sermanha.

Surrounded by vineyards, the town stretches from the terraced slopes of the Serra do Marão down to the banks of the Douro River, in a landscape dotted with manor houses and churches that vividly reflect the Douro’s most prosperous era—the 18th century.

Geographically, Mesão Frio marks the beginning of the Douro W**e Region, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001.

O concelho de Mesão Frio é um dos mais antigos da região duriense, tendo recebido Foral em Fevereiro de 1152 por ordem de D. Afonso Henriques, f**a localizado no Distrito de Vila Real, situando-se o centro da vila num pequeno planalto a 380 metros de altitude, sobranceiro aos rios Douro e Teixeira.

A vila de Mesão Frio situa-se nas faldas da serra do Marão e defronte da serra das Meadas, é banhada pelo rio Douro, assim como pelos afluentes Teixeira e Sermanha.

Enquadrada por vinhas, a vila estende-se pelos socalcos da Serra do Marão até às margens do Rio Douro, numa paisagem salpicada de solares e igrejas que refletem amplamente a época mais próspera do Douro – o séc. XVIII.

Its mission is to study and preserve the region’s archaeological and industrial heritage and, through this work, to promote public awareness of it, with a focus on educational activities designed to foster an appreciation of local history among the entire local community and visitors alike.

The Murça region is divided into Terra Quente, Terra Fria, and Terra de Montanha. This immense diversity gives the municipality unique and varied landscapes, stretching from the Douro River to the mountains. The history of Murça dates back to the earliest prehistoric settlements. The Roman presence in the municipality left clearly visible traces, such as the Roman bridge and road. Murça received its charter in 1224, granted by King Sancho I, and the Order of the Hospitallers was established there during the Middle Ages.
The Lands of Murça boast enormous diversity, with distinct landscapes ranging from the Douro River to the mountains. It is a region of clear, untamed rivers, mountain ranges, and deep valleys where nature remains vibrant.

Recognized as one of the most iconic cities in the Alto Douro W**e Region, Peso da Régua’s history is intrinsically linked to that of the world’s oldest Demarcated and Regulated W**e Region. It was here that, in August 1756, the Marquis of Pombal established the headquarters of the General Company for the Agriculture of the Upper Douro Vineyards, which today houses one of the most important national museums: the Douro Museum.

Bathed by the Douro River—once vital for the trade of fortified w**e and now the main gateway to a World Heritage Region—the city is characterized by a breathtaking landscape that can be admired in all its splendor from the S. Leonardo de Galafura Lookout, where Miguel Torga so often found inspiration.

Here, from the hands of the local men and women, come the rabelo boats, the Régua candies, the light and aromatic white w**es and the warm, velvety reds, and the finest of all w**es: Port w**e.

Reconhecida como uma das cidades mais icónicas do Alto Douro Vinhateiro, Peso da Régua tem a sua história intrinsecamente ligada à história daquela que é a Região Vinícola Demarcada e Regulamentada mais antiga do Mundo. Foi aqui que, em agosto de1756, Marquês de Pombal instalou a sede da Companhia Geral da Agricultura das Vinhas do Alto Douro, hoje sede de um dos mais relevantes Museus Nacionais: o Museu do Douro.

Aqui, das mãos dos homens e mulheres da terra, nascem barcos rabelos, os rebuçados da Régua, os vinhos brancos leves e aromáticos e os tintos quentes e aveludados, e o mais Fino de todos os vinhos: o Vinho do Porto.
