Happy National Day! 🇸🇪

Sweden celebrates its National Day on 6 June, honouring two important moments in Swedish history: the election of Gustav Vasa as King of Sweden in 1523 and the adoption of a new constitution in 1809, which helped lay the foundations of modern Swedish democracy.

The National Day is a moment to reflect on the values Sweden seeks to live in practice: openness, equality, innovation, sustainability, responsibility and cooperation.

Today marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp.

On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we commemorate the victims of N**i genocide and the six million Jews that were systematically murdered. We also remember the Roma and all the other victims who were persecuted, imprisoned and murdered by the N**is.

By raising awareness about the Holocaust and never forgetting it, we can try to prevent something similar from happening again. For the Swedish Government, combating antisemitism and promoting Jewish life are priority issues.
