Thank you 901 Albany Democratic Club! We share the sentiment that voters in Albany deserve accurate information about what this reform would mean for them. Enfranchising voters and expanding Democracy is what we are all about.

Most major cities have moved beyond closed partisan primaries. Albany should too, to promote democracy and increase turnout.

On July 6, the community spoke in support of Ranked Choice Voting with a single unified election in Albany.

One of the most important reasons for this proposal is that it gives every voter a meaningful voice. More than 25% of Albany voters are currently shut out of the process because they are not enrolled in a political party. A single unified election would bring those voters into the fold, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to participate in choosing their representatives.

A stronger democracy is one where every voter has a seat at the table. #518
