Not Left. Not Right. Forward.

On July 6, the community spoke in support of Ranked Choice Voting with a single unified election in Albany.

One of the most important reasons for this proposal is that it gives every voter a meaningful voice. More than 25% of Albany voters are currently shut out of the process because they are not enrolled in a political party. A single unified election would bring those voters into the fold, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to participate in choosing their representatives.

A stronger democracy is one where every voter has a seat at the table. #518

🎉 We’re honored to receive the endorsement of the Melrose Neighborhood Association for our proposal to bring Ranked Choice Voting and a Single Unified Election to Albany.

With this endorsement, eight neighborhood associations from across the city have now voiced their support for giving every voter one election where everyone participates together.

Thank you to the Melrose Neighborhood Association for your confidence in this effort and your commitment to a more inclusive, representative, and accessible democracy for Albany.

The petition calls for a referendum on ranked choice voting in City of Albany elections. It now heads to the Albany Common Council.

Today we officially submitted over 3,200 petition signatures to the Albany City Clerk in support of bringing Ranked Choice Voting and one unified November election to Albany.
This moment belongs to every volunteer who stood in the heat, rain, and cold collecting signatures, every person who stopped to ask questions, and every Albany resident who signed because they believe every voter deserves a voice.
Thank you to everyone who made this possible. Your support shows that our community wants elections that are more open, more inclusive, and give every voter a real choice.
This is what grassroots democracy looks like. #518
