Whether it's commuting to work, exploring local trails, staying active, or enjoying time with family and friends, bicycles provide a healthy, affordable, and sustainable way to connect with the world around us.

Here's to safer streets, healthier residents, and more opportunities to ride. Happy World Bicycle Day!

On behalf of the Albany County Legislative Black Caucus, we are pleased to invite you to our 2026 Juneteenth Celebration, a community festival honoring liberation, Black culture, and the next generation of leaders.

Juneteenth, observed on June 19, commemorates the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Texas were finally informed of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed and two months after the South surrendered and the war ended. What began as a celebration in the streets of Texas has grown into a powerful national observance of Black resilience and freedom.

This year's event will be held in the Cahill Room and will feature:
• Live performances
• Food
• Arts & crafts
• Tables hosted by local creative arts organizations (prioritizing Black- and Person-of-Color-led groups) offering resources, artwork, and interactive activities
• The 2026 LBC Young Changemaker Award Ceremony, recognizing individuals ages 16–21 who have made meaningful contributions to the Albany County community through service aligned with the Caucus's mission to advance equity for historically marginalized communities.

To nominate a deserving young leader in your community for the Young Changemaker Award, scan the QR code in the attached flyer.
