The Albany County Legislature will hold a Public Hearing on September 29th. The following items will be on the agenda:

Yesterday, Deputy Chairwoman Wanda Willingham and Legislator Susan P**o joined County Executive Daniel P. McCoy to provide an update on the Central Warehouse demolition.
The building is expected to be fully demolished by Summer 2027.

Deputy Chairwoman Wanda Willingham, Deputy Majority Leader Lynne Lekakis, LBC Chair Carolyn McLaughlin, and Legislators Ellen Rosano and Susan P**o joined County Executive Daniel P. McCoy and Assemblymember Gabriella Romero to announce $60,000 in funding to expand United Tenants of Albany’s Unsafe-Unfit Program.
The program will assist families displaced from homes deemed unfit for habitation by helping cover first-month rent and temporary hotel stays while UTA works to address code violations or secure permanent housing.

ICYMI: Chairwoman Joanne Cunningham, Legislators Danielle Gillespie, Susan Laurilliard, and Matt Miller joined County Executive Daniel P. McCoy, Bethlehem Town Supervisor David VanLuven, and Empire State Development Regional Director Michael Yevoli to break ground on the Rail Trail Depot building’s relocation. Our DPW will be doing this in-house and will carefully support and lift the structure in order to place it on a new, modern foundation, while preserving its historic character.

Local Law G, which grants a tax exemption to the surviving spouse of a police officer killed in the line of duty, passed the legislature unanimously.

Legislators approved a resolution of support for the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad New York Scenic Byway Nomination and Corridor Management Plan which includes programs for stewardship and enhancements.
