A few things can be true at once...

1) The current bus station in Albany is a decrepit embarrassment to our region
2) Residents of the South End deserve to have their concerns about a new terminal heard by the County

Hopefully there will be more public discussions on this topic in the near future. Monday's Public Forum was a great example of what direct democracy can be in Albany County.

Legislature delays vote until after a second community meeting is held to discuss controversial proposal to build depot on former McDonald’s land.

Resolution 243 is one I'm proud to have been working on for sometime with staff & colleagues. Several Upstate Counties have similar resting places for their military veterans, and Saratoga has a national site - but no such place is available for current use in our County. After being introduced this week, I am hopeful for the passage of our bill to establish an "Albany County Veterans Memorial Cemetery." 🪦

This is about honoring and recognizing the service and sacrifice of our brave men and women in uniform 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

A session success! 🎉

There didn't seem to be many this year at the State Capitol, but I'm glad our advocacy (and the advocacy of so many others) seemed to work on the "CREEP Act" (Ceasing Repeated and Extremely Egregious Predatory Behavior Act). The bill, which would allow victims of stalking and harassment to petition for orders of protection more efficiently, finally passed both house of the Legislature.

I urge residents to contact the Governor in support of this important legislation!

In case you missed it:

Last week our Conference leader Frank Mauriello & Legislator Mark Robinson spoke with Spectrum News 1 Capital Region about their new "parental responsibility" bill. Learn more about the bill here as it is set to be formally introduced tonight:

The bill would require parents or guardians of juvenile offenders to complete mandatory parenting classes. Those who refuse would face community service.
