🐾 Bailey’s Brigade October Meeting! 🐾

Our Central PA Humane Society October Bailey’s Brigade meeting at the Altoona Area Public Library was another paws-itively wonderful evening! ❤️

We were so excited to welcome Laurie Black, owner of, Twisted Tales, as our special presenter. Laurie brought along Libra, one of the adorable residents from the cat lounge, and she quickly became a favorite with the kids! 🐱

We had an awesome and enthusiastic group of kids join us, and Laurie shared so much valuable information about caring for kittens and cats. The kids learned tips about feeding, providing fresh water, keeping cats safe and happy, and all the little things that make a big difference in caring for our furry friends.

We were especially excited to hear that Twisted Tales has celebrated more than 100 adoptions! 🎉🐾 What an incredible milestone!

Some of our Bailey’s Brigade kids even shared how they help care for their own cats — feeding them and making sure they have water. When we asked about changing the litter box, though… let’s just say there were a few very quick “NOPE!” answers. 😂🐈

We had so much fun learning, laughing, and talking about our love for animals. A huge THANK YOU to Laurie for taking the time to spend the evening with our Bailey’s Brigade families and for sharing her knowledge and love of cats with us.

We are so proud of this group of kids and their growing compassion for animals. ❤️🐾

Bailey's Brigade invites families to join a friendly "pack" where being kind to animals isn't ruff at all. Through a partnership with the Central PA Humane Society, we will welcome guest speakers, introduce children ages 3 - 12 to real animals and offer hands-on activities that teaches compassion, responsibility, and what it means to be a thoughtful pet owner or friend to animals.

It is a fun, welcoming way for kids to learn how small acts of kindness can make a big difference for animals in our community.

There are still some spots available for our next Paws 2 Read on October 5th from 5pm - 6pm.

This heartwarming program partners with the Central PA Humane Society to create a paw-some reading adventure for children of all ages.

Kids can practice reading aloud to furry friends, boosting their confidence and literacy skills, while giving adoptable pets some much-needed love and attention. It's a tail-wagging, page-turning experience for everyone involved!

Our second Bailey’s Brigade meeting was another success! 🐾❤️

WTAJ joined us this evening to help shine a light on our program, and we are so thankful for their support. We are also incredibly grateful to Miss Clarissa and the Altoona Area Public Library for welcoming us each month and giving us a wonderful place to bring this program to life.

Most of all, we are so proud of the children who participate. They are already incredibly kind and passionate about animals, and watching their knowledge and enthusiasm grow is so special. The future looks so bright! 🤩🐾

We brought sweet Parker to join us tonight! Parker is a 3-month-old Lab/Great Pyrenees mix who came all the way from Texas. She is currently available for adoption through the Central PA Humane Society and, as you can imagine, this little girl is going to be a BIG girl when she grows up! 🐶❤️

Tonight, our Bailey’s Brigade members learned what to do when they find a stray dog, who to contact to report a stray, when and how it is safe to approach a dog, how to read canine body language, and different ways they can help support the Central PA Humane Society

These kids already know so much about kindness and how animals should be treated, and they continue to impress us with their questions, compassion, and ideas. One of our members even has big dreams of becoming a veterinarian one day! We absolutely love hearing things like that ❤️

We have BIG plans for Bailey’s Brigade and hope to see this program continue to grow in the coming months. Our goal is to teach children that kindness matters — and that they have the power to make a difference in the lives of animals.
