Sumter County Board of Education Names Jerry J. Sanders, Sr. Sole Finalist for Superintendent

The Sumter County Board of Education voted during its meeting today, Wednesday, June 3, 2026, to name Jerry J. Sanders, Sr. as the sole finalist for the position of Superintendent of the Sumter County School District.

Americus, GA (June 1, 2026) — Phoebe Sumter hosted 12 students as part of the Sumter 100 initiative, a partnership between IGNITE College & Career Academy, Georgia Power, and One Sumter Partnership. It is a powerful, community-driven effort focused on building a strong workforce pipeline.

This initiative equips students with the skills, certifications, and hands-on experience they need to succeed in high-demand careers, while also supporting local employers in filling critical workforce gaps.
