Roxanne Milazzo, a Licensed Practical Nurse with the Alaska VA Healthcare System, was chosen as the Anchorage facility winner of the VA Secretary’s Award for Nursing Excellence – LPN role. The
award was presented by Sonya Dunn (Associate Director, Patient Care Services/Nurse Executive for the Alaska VA Healthcare System) in a ceremony at the MH RRTP in Anchorage on May 28, 2026.
The Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation and Treatment Program (MH RRTP, formerly known as the Domiciliary or “Dom”) is designed to provide state-of-the-art, high-quality residential rehabilitation and treatment services for Veterans with multiple and severe medical conditions, mental illness, addiction, or psychosocial deficits. Milazzo was also chosen as the VISN 20 winner
and was presented an award by the VISN 20 Chief Nursing Officer Terisa Sjue-Loring. Winners at that level advance to National for consideration for the VA Secretary’s Award for Nursing Excellence – LPN role. Dunn said, “Nurse Milazzo stands out for her exceptional dedication to improving
Veteran patient care, and she excels at teamwork, always going above and beyond her duties to support Veterans and colleagues alike.”
