Museum Tour: Ancient Abstractions - Roman Visual Trends Beyond Naturalism
Tuesday, Dec. 1, 10-11 a.m.

Join us for a group tour to the U-M Kelsey Museum of Archaeology for its newest exhibit curated by Nicola Barham. While Greek and Roman art is famous for lifelike sculptures, ancient artists also experimented with bold colors, geometric patterns, stylized animals, and imaginative ways of representing space. Located at the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology, 434 S. State Street. ) Meet at the Upjohn entrance on Maynard St. Parking suggested: metered parking is available on Maynard St. (coin only) and East William St. (electronic meters). Cycling Without Age - Presentation and Trishaw Experience!
Thursday, Oct. 22, 10-11 a.m. (10-minute rides available 11:10 a.m.-1 p.m.)

The Ann Arbor Senior Center welcomes A2 Joy Rides for this enriching and unique experience! A2 Joy Rides is a local chapter of Cycling Without Age (CWA), that gives older adults and people with limited mobility the opportunity to experience the freedom, connection and simple joy of cycling- with the help of volunteer “pilots” who pedal specialty designed trishaws. Founded in Denmark in 2012, CWA now operates in more than 50 countries, has 3,500 chapters worldwide and has given over 5 million rides to over 1.5 million people. Through the simple act of sharing a bike ride, it weaves a sense of community and gathers unique and invaluable stories, connections between generations, unlocked only by the wind in your hair and the wheels. Additionally, CWA aims to combat isolation by helping participants reconnect with their neighborhoods and nature, while also promote sustainability through clean, human-powered transport.

A presentation about the organization will be held from 10-11 a.m. followed by an opportunity for a 10-minute ride given by one of the A2 Joy Rides volunteers. Open to all ages and abilities. Located at the Ann Arbor Senior Center, 1320 Baldwin Ave. Preregistration required. Call 734.794.6250. Free of charge.
