We got mail! 📬

If you didn't know, one of the tasks on our Adult Summer Reading Challenge is to send a postcard to the library! The reading challenges run through August 31st - you have until then to complete up to three BINGOs for three chances to win our dinosaur-themed grand prize basket!

🎟 Tickets available today! 🎟

Due to a scheduling mishap, this performance was cancelled in June - however, we rescheduled, and Hobey Ford will be performing Animalia on August 15 at the West Asheville Library!

Tickets are required for every body in the room. We can't reserve tickets over the phone - they are first-come, first-served. Stop by the library to pick them up for your family!

An early reminder for folks interested in attending this month's book club: Our selection is Baldwin: A Love Story, by Nicholas Boggs, which has over 600 pages.

Book club is on the last Wednesday and Thursday of the month - August 26th and 27th. We have copies of the book available for pickup today, or give us a call to put one on hold!

One more "Unearth a Story" audiobook to hear at Stitch & Listen! This month we're listening to a selection from "A Gold Hunter's Experience" by Chalkley J. Hambleton, published in 1898. The story recalls his experience during the Pike's Peak gold rush in the early 1860s.

Stitch & Listen is a low-pressure community craft circle, where we listen to an audiobook or podcast together while we work. All ages and all quiet crafts are welcome! We'll see you next Tuesday, August 11th, from 3:30pm to 5:00pm.

🦉 Animals at the Library! 🐍

Naturalist Carlton Burke is coming to West Asheville Library on Friday, August 7th at 3:30pm, and he's bringing animal ambassadors to teach us about local wildlife.

Free tickets are available for pickup starting July 31st - they are required for every person, regardless of age. Signed waivers are also required and will be passed out with your tickets. This program is recommended for ages 3 and up.

An unfortunate reality of the library is that not all books are worth keeping - sometimes they are old, sometimes they are broken, and sometimes we need to make space for newer, more popular titles. Weeding (or gardening, for those of us with a soft heart) keeps our collection fresh and relevant. 🌻

But never fear, the Friends of the Library are here! They can give old books a second life, whether they came from your donations or our shelves. 📚 All proceeds from the book sale go to our Friends - they help the library purchase furniture, scavenger hunt prizes, new books, fund programming, and any other needs we have!

Interested in becoming a Friend? Call or stop by the library for more details! 😄
