Stitch & Listen is coming up on Tuesday! This is a lowkey community craft circle, where we listen to a short audiobook from LibriVox while we work.
Our theme for the summer is Unearth A Story! This month we're listening to an excerpt from Giovanni Belzoni's expeditions into Egypt in the early 19th century. Belzoni is famous for collecting the seven ton bust of Ramses II for the British Museum, clearing the sand from the temple at Abu Simbel, and rediscovering the entrance to the second Great Pyramid of Giza.
Though this era of archaeology is not to be glorified, this primary source represents the root of archaeology and Egyptology as we know it today. Come stitch with us and learn about Egyptian excavation!
