Our Kindergarten engineers put on their thinking caps and took on a fast-paced challenge: building the quickest race car! Through trial and error, students designed and tested different models to see if their creation would be the one to beat.

Then came the big moment as they raced their cars down a special track built by Mr. Counter himself! Our young innovators showcased incredible problem-solving, perseverance, and ingenuity.

Way to go, Kindergarten engineers! We can't wait to see what you build next

Calling All Young Scientists!

We invite our school families to participate in the Great Southeast Pollinator Census—a fun and easy citizen science activity you can do together as a family!

Created by the University of Georgia, the Great Southeast Pollinator Census gives everyone an opportunity to contribute to real scientific research while learning more about the amazing pollinators in our own communities.

Grab your kids, find some flowers, and join the count! It’s a wonderful way to get outside, explore nature, and make a difference for pollinator conservation.

We're waving goodbye to the first full week of the 2026-27 school year!
Our Mariner students and staff jumped right back into the swing of things with ease. From a full week of learning and making new friends to building classroom communities and creating lasting connections, it has been an amazing start to the year!
The adventure is just beginning, and one thing is already clear: we are Better Together!

What a wonderful evening at our 26-27 Open House!
It was so special to see our Mariner family and community fill our halls with smiles, hugs, excitement, and anticipation for a great year ahead.

Our classrooms are ready, our teachers are prepared, and we cannot wait to welcome students back on Thursday for the first day of school!

A huge thank you to our incredible PTO and community sponsors who always go above and beyond to make every event at Matt so special. Your generosity, support, and dedication help create memorable experiences for our students, staff, and families, and we are so grateful for all you do.

Thank you to all of our families for partnering with us as we begin another amazing year together. Here's to a year of learning, growing, and achieving more because we are Better Together!

⚓Mariner Reminder! Open House is Tomorrow!

We’re excited to welcome our returning and newest Mariners at Open House on Tuesday, August 4! This is a great opportunity to meet teachers, visit classrooms, and get ready for an amazing 2026-2027 school year.

Open House Schedule:

•Pre-K & Kindergarten: 9:00-10:30 AM
•Specialized Instruction (SI): 10:30-11:30 AM
•Grades 1-5 (Last Names A-L): 1:30-3:00 PM
•Grades 1-5 (Last Names M-Z): 3:30-5:00 PM

New Mariner Families: Please stop by the Raptor Registration table in the front office to scan your ID and complete the visitor registration process before entering the building.

We can't wait to see you tomorrow and begin another great year together! Better Together!

⚓What a week at Matt Elementary! ⚓

Our teachers and staff jumped back into action this week, filling the building with energy, collaboration, and excitement for the year ahead! We were also proud to participate in the North United Pep Rally, where rising 5th grader Savannah Hutchins represented Matt Elementary and spoke beautifully to the crowd.

From New Educator Orientation and leadership retreats to planning sessions and reconnecting with colleagues, it has been a week of learning, laughter, and teamwork.

We also unveiled our 2026-2027 theme, "Better Together," and celebrated America's 250th birthday while showing off our red, white, and blue! Through team-building activities, our staff explored the power of collaboration and strengthened the bonds that make our Mariner family so special.

Behind the scenes, our staff has been hard at work preparing engaging lessons, welcoming new team members, and getting everything ready for our students' return.

We can't wait to welcome our Mariners back and be Better Together with our students and families this year!
