🚨 SCAM ALERT – PLEASE SHARE 🚨

It has been brought to the attention of the Acworth Police Department that an individual identifying himself as Lt. Williams has been contacting members of the community, claiming to be an Acworth Police Officer and demanding payment for a fine related to a missed court date.

⚠️ **THIS IS A SCAM.**

The Acworth Police Department does not have a Lieutenant Williams employed with the City of Acworth, and our officers will not call you and demand payment over the phone for a missed court date or threaten you with arrest if you do not immediately pay.

**DO NOT SEND MONEY.** Do not provide gift cards, banking information, credit/debit card numbers, or other financial information to anyone making these demands.

Scammers may use law enforcement terminology, spoof phone numbers, or provide convincing information in an attempt to make the call appear legitimate.

If you receive a suspicious call from someone claiming to represent the Acworth Police Department, hang up and contact the Acworth Police Department directly at 770-974-1232 to verify the information.

It takes grit, discipline, and sharp instincts to keep our community safe. Whether they’re responding to active calls or greeting friendly faces around town, these four-legged partners and their handlers serve our community with total dedication.

Today, we’re giving a special thank-you to K-9 Amper, K-9 Robuck, and their handlers for the countless hours of training, teamwork, and hard work they put in to keep Acworth safe. We’re lucky to have them on our team!

Last night, Officer Whiddon was recognized by Acworth Masonic Lodge #176 for his life-saving actions during a moment when every second counted.
While on vacation with his family, Officer Whiddon noticed a juvenile choking in line at an amusement park. Without hesitation, he stepped in to render aid, successfully dislodging the object and saving the child’s life.
His quick thinking, decisive action, and willingness to step up in a moment of crisis reminds us all of the heart and selflessness behind the badge.

Congratulation to Officer Alva and Officer Hanfland who graduated from the Georgia Public Safety Training Center Basic Law Enforcement Academy today! Over the last 16 weeks they have completed over 800 hours of training. Next week they will begin field training where Officers Alva and Hanfland will continue to apply their skills, dedication and commitment to service in our community. We are proud to recognize their hard work and dedication to helping protect and serve our Acworth community.

The Acworth Police Department invites local pastors and ministry leaders to join us for our annual Minister’s Day Training!

National Night Out was filled with good food, big smiles, games, giveaways, and plenty of memories!

Thank you to everyone who spent part of your evening with us. We loved getting to see our community come together, meet new faces, catch up with familiar ones, and have a little fun with the people who make Acworth such a great place to call home.

And you didn’t just come to have fun, you came ready to give back, too! 🥫 Thank you to everyone who brought food donations for our local food pantry. Every donation helps, and we appreciate you helping us support our community.

We also owe a huge thank you to the local businesses who donated raffle prizes. Your generosity helped add an extra layer of fun to the night!

Congratulations to Officer Talar Badal on being named Acworth Police Department’s 2nd Quarter Officer of the Quarter!

Officer Badal has quickly established herself as a proactive and dedicated officer who is committed to keeping our community safe. During the second quarter, her hard work and determination led to multiple felony drug arrests involving methamphetamine through thorough investigations, self-initiated activity, and exceptional attention to detail.

Although she has less than a year of solo patrol experience, Officer Badal has already demonstrated outstanding initiative, professionalism, and a strong work ethic. Her efforts have made a significant impact on our department and the safety of our community.
