💙 Global Payments Rolls Up Their Sleeves for Nicholas House! 💪

A little organization can make a BIG difference!

A huge thank you to Global Payments for choosing Nicholas House as part of their Worldwide Day of Service! 🌎

Their hardworking team rolled up their sleeves to tackle a major storage organization project—cleaning, taking inventory, and reorganizing everything from household essentials and hygiene items to linens and maintenance supplies.

While this work happens behind the scenes, its impact is felt throughout Nicholas House! Thanks to their efforts, our team can more easily access the supplies and resources needed to support our families. 🏡

🍽️ Serving Up Support for Nicholas House Families! 💙

A warm meal means even more when it's served with kindness and care!

A heartfelt thank you to Knights of Columbus Council 660 for recently preparing and serving dinner for Nicholas House families!

As one of our dedicated dinner service volunteer groups, the Knights of Columbus regularly give their time to help bring families together around the dinner table.

💙🏠 Reflecting on Our Impact & Looking Ahead!

Each September, Nicholas House staff and Board of Directors come together for our annual Board Retreat to reflect on the past year, celebrate our accomplishments, and explore how we can continue strengthening our support for families experiencing homelessness.

This year, we took a closer look at our programs and the data behind our impact. At Nicholas House, success isn't just about helping a family find housing. It's about helping them remain stably housed and build a foundation for long-term success.

📊 One milestone we're especially proud of: 92% of families measured at the 12-month mark remained stably housed across our programs! 🎉

A special thank you to Board Member Trent Dunn for generously hosting this year's retreat at Lofts at Twenty25, a mixed-income apartment community in Atlanta!

Trent's dedication to addressing homelessness extends beyond his service on our board. Through his work with Atlantica Properties and TI Asset Management, he's helping create housing opportunities that bring together market-rate apartments and permanent supportive housing for individuals transitioning out of homelessness.

In partnership with EQ Housing, Partners for Home, and Step Up, Lofts at Twenty25 combines stable housing with supportive services and case management to help residents work toward lasting stability. 🏠

We're incredibly grateful to Trent and our entire Board of Directors for their leadership, dedication, and commitment to our mission. Together, we're continuing to build a future where families have the support and opportunities they need to thrive! 💙

💙 Having a job doesn't always mean having enough to afford a stable home.

For Yorubia, a single mother of four, building a brighter future means balancing work, family, and the rising cost of everyday living.

Since joining Nicholas House's New Horizons program in DeKalb County, Yorubia has maintained steady employment, made every monthly rental contribution on time, and achieved perfect attendance in our workplace readiness workshops!

With her sights set on increasing her income, growing her savings, and becoming financially independent, Yorubia is taking meaningful steps toward a stronger future for her family.

Her story is a reminder that housing is the foundation, but lasting stability is the goal. 🏡

💙🙌 A Day of Service with Genuine Parts Company!

A big thank you to Genuine Parts Company (GPC) for another wonderful day of giving back at Nicholas House! 🏠✨

GPC volunteers Fantasia and Kara rolled up their sleeves to reorganize our refrigerator and pantry, helping create a cleaner, more organized, and functional space for our staff and the families we serve! 🧹💙

And their generosity didn't stop there! They also brought along much-needed supplies to help support our families and day-to-day operations. 🎁

We're so grateful to Fantasia, Kara, and the entire Genuine Parts Company team for continuing to show up for Nicholas House with their time, energy, and generosity!

🎉💙 Nicholas House Named an Impact100 Atlanta Finalist! 🏠

We're thrilled to share that Nicholas House has been selected as one of just 10 finalists for Impact100 Atlanta's 2026 transformational grants! 🙌

Chosen from more than 200 applicants across Metro Atlanta, Nicholas House is one of only two finalists in the Family focus area, putting us in the running for a $90,000 grant to support our proposed Journey Home project!

If selected, this funding would help us expand our efforts to support families experiencing homelessness as they work toward stable housing, greater independence, and long-term stability. 💙

We recently had the opportunity to attend Impact100 Atlanta's Meet the Finalists event and connect with other incredible organizations working to make a difference throughout our community.

We're so grateful to Impact100 Atlanta and its members for their commitment to collective giving and investing in organizations creating meaningful change across Metro Atlanta. Congratulations to all 10 finalists! 👏

✨ Next up: November's final presentations and grant awards! We're excited to share more about our vision for Journey Home and the impact this funding could have on the families we serve.

🎓💙 Celebrating Our First Workforce Development Readiness Graduates! 🎉

We're excited to celebrate EIGHT Nicholas House participants in DeKalb County who recently graduated from our first Workforce Development Readiness Program in partnership with Dress for Success Georgia! 👏

Led by our wonderful Case Manager Ebonie, this program helped participants develop valuable skills, build confidence, and take meaningful steps toward their employment and career goals. As part of the experience, participants also had the opportunity to shop at Dress for Success for professional attire to help them look and feel their best as they prepare for new opportunities! 👔✨

🎉 Please join us in congratulating Zaneta, Azariah, Shanesha, Ramonia, Marquita, Sade, Vanessa, and Sophia! We're so proud of each of you and excited to see where your journeys take you next!

For more than eight years, Vickie Tellis has been a dedicated champion of Nicholas House families through her leadership as Chairperson and Nicholas House liaison for The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral’s St. Photini Outreach Ministry! 🏠💙

As Vickie steps away from her role as Chairperson, we want to recognize and celebrate the incredible dedication, kindness, and generosity she has shown our families over the years. Her commitment to strengthening this partnership and ensuring our families feel supported and cared for has made a lasting difference.

Thank you, Vickie, for more than eight wonderful years of leadership, advocacy, and service! Your impact on the Nicholas House community will not be forgotten. 💙

As Zarria, one of our wonderful front desk volunteers, heads back to Kennesaw State University for her senior year, we want to wish her an incredible school year and thank her for the time and dedication she's given to Nicholas House! 🎓💙

We're also giving a big shoutout to Daniel, Ashley, Andrea, and Neish, who help keep things running smoothly by answering phones, welcoming visitors, assisting with donations and questions, and supporting our staff and families.

Recently, Jim Kelley and several UUCA dinner volunteers went beyond serving a meal by sitting down with our shelter residents to share food, stories, and conversation.

These moments of connection make a meaningful difference. When volunteers take the time to sit down, listen, and get to know the families they serve, they help create a sense of community and belonging that extends far beyond the dinner table. 💙
