Meet Manchang, a Planeteer in Jos, Nigeria 🌍💚

Manchang saw how plastic was choking his community: blocking drainage, polluting waterways, harming public health, and worsening flood issues.🌧️🏘️

He was inspired to tackle the root causes of the issue. Manchang decided to launch the Plastic Free Community, aiming to reduce plastic by changing behavior and actions. By engaging hundreds of residents in awareness and action-based activities, Manchang is helping his community build lasting habits for a cleaner, healthier environment. 🌱

Through the Planeteer Alliance, Manchang has the opportunity to turn ideas into action, and make a difference in the lives of his community🌟💚

The Captain Planet Collective: A Green Economy Workforce Development Program, powered by Accenture, has helped prepare young professionals across Latin America, Canada, and the U.S. to launch careers in the green economy. 🌎💚

Over the past five months, participants completed learning modules, attended career development events, and expanded their professional networks with industry leaders.

The program culminated in a mock interview finale, where participants interviewed with professionals working in the field and received real-time feedback to help strengthen their confidence and career readiness.

¿Cómo podemos facilitar la transición de la universidad a la industria para las nuevas generaciones de profesionales que quieren formar parte de la fuerza laboral verde?

Esta es la pregunta que inspiró la creación del Captain Planet Collective: Programa de Desarrollo de la Fuerza Laboral Verde – Impulsado por Accenture, una iniciativa transformadora de cinco meses que hoy celebra la culminación de su primera cohorte.

Más de 100 jóvenes de Estados Unidos, Canadá y América Latina tuvieron acceso a módulos de aprendizaje virtual, coaching personalizado y eventos virtuales con expertos, diseñados para fortalecer sus currículums, optimizar sus perfiles de LinkedIn y prepararse para entrevistas de trabajo. Además, tuvieron la oportunidad de conectar con profesionales de amplia experiencia en sus regiones y con organizaciones que ofrecen oportunidades laborales de manera frecuente.

Asimismo, gracias a nuestro aliado Accenture, los participantes recibieron acceso exclusivo a la plataforma Learning to Earning, donde pudieron realizar cursos gratuitos y fortalecer las habilidades que hoy aportan como profesionales.

How can we make the transition from university to industry easier for the next generation of young professionals who want to join the green workforce?

This is the question that inspired the creation of the Captain Planet Collective: Green Workforce Development Program – Powered by Accenture, a transformative five-month initiative that today celebrates the completion of its first cohort.

More than 100 young people from the United States, Canada, and Latin America gained access to virtual learning modules, personalized coaching, and expert-led online events to strengthen their résumés, optimize their LinkedIn profiles, and prepare for job interviews. Participants also had the opportunity to connect with experienced professionals in their regions and with organizations that regularly offer career opportunities.

In addition, thanks to our partner Accenture, participants received exclusive access to the Learning to Earning platform, where they completed free courses and expanded the skills they can bring to the workforce.

In short:
Virtual learning platforms, personalized coaching, meaningful connections, and real-world experience. These are the pillars of this free program, designed to inspire and support participants as they build careers in the green economy.

The future belongs to young people and the transformation starts today.

Meet Maria Victoria, a Planeteer in Fortaleza, Brazil 🌱🌍

Maria noticed a major problem in her city: large amounts of plastic waste were being improperly disposed of, which then reached the rivers and the ocean, threatening marine life and polluting coastal areas. 🐠🌊

Maria’s project, Mudando a Maté, is an environmental awareness campaign that reduces disposable cup use by distributing reusable cups, mobilizing youth, and promoting educational actions. Her project helps keep our oceans healthy and keeps plastic out of streets, drains, and coastal areas.☀️🏫

With the help of Planeteer Alliance, Maria is empowering her community to keep plastic out of their environment and help make the world a little greener.🌳💫

We are thrilled to welcome 3 visionary leaders to the Captain Planet Foundation Board of Directors!

Susana Chavez is Executive Vice President at Park Place and has built an impressive legacy of business growth, leadership, and relationship-building. Her contributions have earned her numerous honors, including recognition from the GHCC Hall of Fame, Women of Achievement, and Trailblazer awards. As a dedicated community leader, she currently serves on several executive and advisory boards across the business and non-profit sectors, including the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Mexican Center of Atlanta and the Latin American Association.

Eunjae Kim Peralta-Ramos is CEO of Grace-Jackson Investment LLC and the Principal for the Eunjae Kim & Arturo Peralta-Ramos Charitable Trust. Eunjae is a lifelong learner and accomplished leader; in addition to earning degrees from the University of Iowa and the University of Tennessee, she has continued her professional journey through advanced certifications and graduate studies in project management, engineering, and Lean Six Sigma at Stanford and Purdue.

Marieke van de Rakt is Co-founder and partner of Emilia Capital and a passionate leader in marketing education and the digital world. Prior to forming Emilia Capital, Marieke served as the CEO of Joast SEO. Through her work in business, education, and community leadership, she helps turn sustainability, biodiversity, and anti-poverty goals into impactful local action. No matter the setting, Marieke is driven by a commitment to turn purpose into practice.

Introducing our 2026 Summer Intern group ☀️:

Carter Douglas-Brown - Carter is a rising senior at Emory University, majoring in Environmental Science & Anthropology. She will be working with Planeteer Alliance and programming. Carter said she is “inspired by Captain Planet Foundation’s mission to address the climate crisis through local, high-impact projects that empower communities and young people who may not otherwise have access to these opportunities”. Her favorite animal is a green sea turtle! 🐢

Chloe Seward - Chloe is also a rising senior at Emory University, majoring in Psychology. She will be working with the Green Heart STEM Challenge this summer. She is excited to be a part of CPF because she “loves the work CPF does with kids in cultivating their ability to implement sustainable habits from a young age, and encouraging them to carry out those practices for generations to come”. Her favorite animal is a giraffe! 🦒

Layla Joyner - Layla is a rising junior at Georgia State University, majoring in Business Management. She will be working with Project Learning Garden this summer and was drawn to work with Captain Planet Foundation because “they are a mission-driven organization that uses their highly structured operations and passion for environmental change to empower youth to be sustainability and social justice leaders”.  Her favorite animal is a corgi! 🐶

Marlowe McIntyre - Marlowe is a rising junior at Skidmore College, majoring in Business & Political Science. She will be working with the Marketing & Development teams this summer and was drawn to Captain Planet “because of the way that they impact local communities (especially Atlanta) and the organization’s involvement with real schools and students alongside the growth they promote within the organization”. Her favorite animal is an elephant! 🐘

Team Planet was honored to attend the Life & Legacy of Ted Turner memorial celebration today at the Warner Bros. Discovery campus in Atlanta. The event was beautifully produced by our Board Member, Sydney Langdon, and her team; hosted by CNN’s Anderson Cooper; and featured remarks by David Zaslav (President & CEO, WBD), Dr John Malone (Chair Emeritus, WBD), Sir Mark Thompson (Chairman & CEO, CNN), Christiane Amanpour (Chief International Anchor, CNN), Wolf Blitzer (Anchor, CNN), Tom Johnson (Former President, CNN), Ben Mankiewiez (Host, Turner Classic Movies), and Ernie Johnson (Host, TNT Sports).

They all shared deeply personal and often hilarious stories remembering a man who led a singularly impactful life on the media, philanthropy, sports, youth environmentalists, and large-scale land conservation & restoration.

The most heartfelt stories came at the end when John R Seydel talked about living a life with Ted up close - in the quiet times that belong to family. John R is Ted’s grandson and a CPF Board Member - the eldest of Laura Turner Seydel, CPF’s Chair Emeritus.

The favorite quote of the day was Ted’s “Either lead, follow or get out of the way,” appropriate to remember in these time of climate crisis and inaction from our leaders. The Power is Yours.

Buy your tickets today! Concert for the Planet - NOVEMBER 7TH AT THE COCA-COLA ROXY - is a celebration of Captain Planet Foundation’s 35th Anniversary. We will be recognizing the organizations and artists who are changing the face of the music and touring industries by putting sustainability and the planet first. We will be presenting the Superhero for Earth Awards to REVERB.org and Peter Conlon of Live Nation. The Bacon Brothers will headline the concert and the Gala will feature other artists as well.

We will present the inaugural Ted Turner Legacy Awards in honor and memory of the REAL Captain Planet.

Be part of an evening that unites music with purpose, ignites our collective power to heal the planet, AND raises critical funding to support young Planeteers, around the globe, who are designing & implementing environmental and climate campaigns to create the world they want to live in.
